The other factor is if the Chiefs are able to re-sign Orlando, if he becomes a 1 year rental that's another layer of this trade. I don't think he's going to give them a contenders discount after the season, he's going to push hard for every penny. They're going to end up paying him 20M a year or losing him to FA. Oweh will be extremely affordable and have a 5th year option, Cleveland could be a starting Guard for a cheap 4 years as well.
    they will probably franchise him

this is correct. The only 5th rounder was 2022. We received the Chiefs 2022 5th rounder in exchange for our 2022 6th rounder.

I'd love to see Oweh blow past Brown & create a strip-sack-fumble-TD to clinch a playoff game this year.....

Once you start going down the rabbit hole of where the picks are traded multiple times, it's hard to tell exactly what they got from the trade alone. For example, in giving up the 136th and 210th pick to Arizona, do you then count Shaun Wade as part of the haul from the Orlando Brown trade or not? He wasn't picked with a Kansas City pick, but the Chiefs' pick was instrumental in getting the pick they used to get him. If you do, do you also count the player the Ravens didn't get at 210, since they traded that away in part to get #160?
yes, you do count Shaun Wade. Kind of like how The people evaluating the Dolphins Tunsil trade have shown how many first round picks have come out of the trade. So we did get Shaun Wade from this trade, but we also will draft another player in the 2022 draft. Wade has a high ceiling and a low floor, imo.

Re: Post-draft view on Orlando Brown Trade

I am more meh on the trade now than prior to the draft. I was hoping that they would have moved one of their first round picks for more picks. I am meh because we essentially weakened the team in the short term. We don't have a quality RT. If Stanley is not ready or is not back to 100% the Oline could be bad. I like Cleveland but the team has a bunch of of guys who are going to compete for the spot and I am not sure Cleveland wins it out of the gate. Ravens now have significant concerns at C and RT. They are going to have sign a player off the trash heap to compete with Phillips for the RT spot. Oweh is a physical specimen without the production to go with it. He was late to the game of football and has huge upside but more than likely will not make an impact this year.

I realize they probably had to trade Brown. I guess I am more disappointed in how they used the picks they got in return.

If Oweh starts making Pro Bowls in 2023 and Cleveland and Wallace are starters I'm going to feel great about this trade.

It's very possible to think it was a mistake in one season and then great later on. This wasn't the Herchel Walker trade where you were getting so much and your team wasn't winning anyway that it was easy to see the value of right away. The Ravens are contenders in 2021 and might have just handed their top competitor for the Super Bowl the means to beat them.

This is a real moment in time kind of trade and we're going to have to see just how important Brown was to the 2021 and the other guys are to future seasons. In that way it reminds me of the Eli Manning/Phillip Rivers trade. Eli wasn't playing for the Chargers. The Chargers got Rivers and drafted 2 Pro Bowl players and had another pick they traded for more picks. Including Rivers the Chargers ended up with 3 Pro Bowlers for Manning. The Giants ended up with Manning who won 2 Super Bowls for them and they weren't winning those without Eli Manning. So who did better? For years people looked at the winner as the Chargers given all those Pro Bowls. Once Super Bowl wins became part of the trade then it was tilted to a steal for the Giants. We'll just have to wait and see how that plays out for this trade.
This is correct. Early on the Chargers were looked at as the clear winner of this trade and yes it tilted in the Giants favor once the Giants won a Super Bowl and then another in 2011. However, Manning wasn't playing for the Chargers and in the end, you have to say this was a win - win. Both had great careers.

The one caveat is that if the Chargers hadn't drafted a QB, would Brees have continued his career with the Chargers? I absolutely believe he would have and it wouldn't have been as great as it was, regardless of how good he is. Payton is just a brilliant offensive mind and Brees was the perfect qb for him.

Re: Post-draft view on Orlando Brown Trade

Great trade for the Ravens. Very many factors and possibilities to weigh. On simpler terms, it's Brown for Oweh and gravy and extra money already.

I love the idea of Oweh for the next five years instead of Brown, which includes money in those five years for other players we could not otherwise afford.

As for 2021, Oweh is already good against the run. But even if he has to be eased in at Edge, Oweh's terrific athletic ability will be valuable in getting after a key player - Mayfield. The Browns are going to be a challenge in the North and post-season, and Mayfield has ability and real tools. But Mayfield is slow and Oweh - coming from who knows where Wink will line him up - can wreak real havoc.

The trade looks better for us than before EDC made the picks. And considering his alternative, was absolutely justifiable.
