Re: Quality of the 2021 NFL Draft
I’m a defense guy too, but the top of this class isn’t for us... the best defensive prospect this year may be the worst “best defensive prospect” I can recall. Who is it even? I could see arguments for Parsons, Surtain, Paye, Barmore... that’s not good news.
The bright side, is that this draft is strong in the right positions for late first rounders. I think we will have a player or two available each at WR/OT/EDGE worthy of our draft a lot plus Moehrig has a chance to be around and fill another need. Although, if we really like 6-8 guys at our pick you know what that means... but it takes two to tango. Sometimes I feel like the Ravens don’t pound the table and pick their favorite enough and opt to trade back and let the board come to them too often.

Re: Quality of the 2021 NFL Draft
I think every draft year is the same in quality.
More important is the guys doing the draft. Draft like the patriots Steelers and us and you’ll be good

Gil Brandt:
The success of players who run sub-4.4 short shuttles AND sub-7.00 3-cones is pretty high in the NFL. Look for the ones who don't get drafted from this list to be priority free agents.

Re: Quality of the 2021 NFL Draft
Let's just isolate WR for now
On the List
Tutu Atwell
Jhamon Ausbon
Rashod Bateman
Dyami Brown
Ja'Marr Chase
Nico Collins
Jaelon Darden
D'Wayne Eskridge
Simi Fehoko
Trevon Grimes
Dax Milne
Elijah Moore
Rondale Moore
Tre Nixon
Josh Palmer
Shi Smith
Amon-Ra St. Brown
Marquez Stevenson (4.21 / 6.86)
Mike Strachan
Kadarius Toney
Tylan Wallace
Dem's a lot of WRs. Methinks the correlation may not be as strong because it's a faster, more agile position group as a whole.
Not On The List
Jonathan Adams Jr (7.04 cone)
Damonte Coxie (4.45 shuttle)
Frank Darby (7.15 cone)
Dazz Newsome (7.39 cone)
Whop Philyor (7.20 cone)
Cornell Powell (7.03 cone)
Amari Rodgers (7.07 cone)
Anthony Schwartz (7.13 cone)
Ihmir Smith-Marsette (7.06 cone)
Sage Surratt (no cone time but ran a 4.70 forty)
Tyler Vaughns (4.40 shuttle, 7.15 cone)
Tre Walker (4.47 shuttle, 7.75 cone <- wow)
Marlon Williams (4.57 shuttle)
Seth Williams (4.43 shuttle, 7.20 cone)
Pretty clear line of demarcation between these lists and where WRs are expected to be drafted. Looks like Gil Brandt isn't the only NFL exec that believes in such a correlation.

Cade Johnson
Devonta Smith
Temorrion Terry
Jaylen Waddle

Re: Quality of the 2021 NFL Draft
After they had already taken Hayden Hurst...
But yes, that is an example of the bold type of move I wish they did more often.
And I suppose, Marquise me even Queen could be argued to be similarly coveted and drafted, but there were rumors there simply wasn’t offers on our trade back attempts both years.
