    Agreed.

And if the Earth makes an orbit around the sun in a year, why are there 365 days, instead of 360, since there are 360 degrees in a circle? Seems to me that would make more sense.

It's about convenience I'm sure. It takes 365 24-hour days for an orbit around the sun. To make it 360 days would mean making each month 30 days and for what ever reason people just didn't want it that way I suppose

You'd also have to adjust the length of a day to make up for it, which doesn't jive with the rate at which the planet rotates.

Happy Easter everyone. Looked up the time in Jerusalem while fielding a page for work, and he is risen, the anniversary of which would be a couple hours ago

Which is why you would shorten every month with 31 days rather than adjusting the day

How so? Unless the planet rotates at different rates during the course of a cycle, it shouldn't make a difference, unless the orbit is not a perfect circle.

Rwt, luckily the Browns didn't have that offer in 2016 and 2017 or there'd be some real string bean children in Cleveland... Bc

Meant because to have 360 days in a year, you would need to make each day more than 24 hours to make up for it since the orbital period doesn't change.

But then what do you do for the 5 days until the earth finishes its orbit at the end of the year? Unless you take the dnd forgotten realms approach and make them holidays.
