Re: Ravens to Propose New Overtime Rules
Hate it.
The game is played for 60 minutes having to drive most of the field and all of the sudden it is settled on a short field? For the same reason hockey and soccer games ending with "shoot-outs" is stupid. Either end the game in a tie or allow up to 5 extra minutes of pure sudden death where the game just continues until somebody scores.

Re: Ravens to Propose New Overtime Rules
Much to simple for the NFL to adopt it.
Puts a lot of stress on what the 'winner' of the coin flip choses.

Re: Ravens to Propose New Overtime Rules
the thing i like about this solution is that it is flexible enough to evolve with the NFL, so (at least in theory) once the NFL implemented this, they wouldn't have to change ever again. what i mean is the game evolves over time. kickers probably have an extra 10 yards of range now compared to 30 years ago. rules favor offenses more than they did 20 years ago. if the NFL "hard-coded" an overtime rule in right now, say that the team that wins the coin-flip gets the ball at the 25, in 10 years it might need to be moved to the 20 to make it fair. this rule change would never need to be changed again, it's designed to evolve and scale with the game.
