Re: Reopening the Discussion: Perceived or Real Limitations on Lamar as a Passer and its Impact on the Offense
If this is the offense they will continue to run, his limitations will be real and permanent.

Re: Reopening the Discussion: Perceived or Real Limitations on Lamar as a Passer and its Impact on the Offense
These past few years, Harbaugh seems to have changed into a coach who takes pride in being innovative (analytics, drafting Lamar). That wasn’t the case early on when Ray and Ed were here. I’m optimistic that he’ll make a change and I think Roman will execute it because it serves both of their interests. Instead of “Check-down Joe”, we’ll have “Hot Route Jackson” matriculating the football.

Re: Reopening the Discussion: Perceived or Real Limitations on Lamar as a Passer and its Impact on the Offense
Bad take. He has already more than shown that he has a strong, accurate arm.
In my humble opinion, his problem is not in his arm at all, it's in his head. We can blame Roman, the OL, JK drops, whatever we want, but the fact is that Lamar seems to get psyched out when things go badly, especially in big games. He seems to get down on himself and isn't able to shake it off. We have seen it in all the playoff losses.
I still write it off to youth, but he's not going to get the benefit of the doubt forever. He had better start showing that he can stay composed and professional in big games. We have seen flashes of it, but not consistently. It's tough because he's an emotional player. He wears his emotion on his sleeve. He is in a way the anti-Flacco. We used to get exasperated at "Joe Cool." Well, LJ has the opposite problem. He is going to have to fix it, and soon.

Are we really still having this discussion about Flacco and Jackson? Post 2014, Flacco was awful. It's sad, he lost his competitive fire, in my opinion. He looked bored and disinterested most of the time. That's something you will never see in LJ. He needs to do the opposite, reign in his emotions a little bit.

Re: Reopening the Discussion: Perceived or Real Limitations on Lamar as a Passer and its Impact on the Offense
We might be getting into semantics, but I'll respectfully disagree on strong and accurate. He's good enough in both, but not a benchmark for either. I'm not sure how a take that shows we need to invest in everything we can to give him the best chance to develop as a passer is a bad take, but I will agree that he tends to perform worse on the big stage. That's certainly in his head, and all the more reason why we should invest in the pieces around him to mitigate that risk.

Re: Reopening the Discussion: Perceived or Real Limitations on Lamar as a Passer and its Impact on the Offense
I was concerned as well. I remember getting into a debate with a certain poster over how Harbaugh would use Lamar.
Basically, Harbaugh didn’t suddenly gain a new sense of energy in developing a Quarterback or passing offense. He fell in love with Lamar, because he saw an opportunity to put together a run heavy offense that could zag, as he always wanted, while the league zigged. Harbaugh has never cared about the pass. A couple of seasons our attempts were high, only because we couldn’t run.
He saw a QB he could run into the ground and that’s what he’s doing.
