What do you think would happen if they somehow got a gun "buy back" (they can't "buy back which was never theirs) to pass and forced people to pay a tax and/or got taxes so high that guns were virtually not affordable?

The well trained military are mostly gun owners. I would give it a zero percent chance that the military or police would forcefully remove guns from law abiding citizens.

More likely, the military and the police would side with conservatives and forcefully boot the socialist out of office

You have to understand when you take the oath you put alot of you personal beliefs aside and do what is best for the country and can guarantee you they will not let the country fall apart no matter what
