Propaganda has done a number on this country

As a far leftist, I usually live in perpetual disappointment, but during this election cycle I saw many signs of hope. I fully realized for the first time that if it wasn't for propaganda, we would live in a democratic socialist country.

The evidence is starting to bear out that if given the choice to vote on issues as opposed to having to listen and vote for the phony politicians, most people would vote for the far left option. I saw this in three ways during the past week:

    1. Several additional states voted to legalize recreational marijuana, with one state voting to legalize all drugs.
    2. Even though Florida voted pretty decisively red, they also decisively voted to increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
    3. This series of polls done by Fox News:

What I'm realizing is that even people on the right, despite having propaganda thrown at them saying that socialist policies would be bad for them, deep down know it would actually do them well.

Fellas, I think we might be actually on our way to making America great.

We don't need propaganda to tell us socialism would be bad, we have history!

Ha. This looks like AOC talking points. Republicans are not against $15 minimum wage. They are against the minimum wage being set at the national level. $15 minimum wage decided by the state is acceptable. What works for Florida is not necessarily going to work in Idaho.

Most Americans do not want the Federal Government to determine what they can and cannot do. That is why we swing back and forth between parties.

You're completely missing the point. In spite of "history," most every poll indicates that the majority of Americans want socialist policies. How do you explain that?

I do agree with you here. A national $15 minimum wage would not be the best thing. I am more in favor of a national UBI.

Probably propaganda telling them it's good, after years of indoctrination in the public school system and universities.

Andrew Yang had one good point, in that, as someone mentioned in another thread, jobs are not being lost out to other ethnicities anymore. They're being lost out to technology. As technology progresses, it will become more and more self sufficient and more jobs will be lost. We are inevitably headed in that direction.

Take it from guy that lived in a democratic socialist country for 13 years with a wife from said country I will tell you and so would she is that it looks good from the outside but its not all its cracked up to be. The best situation would be a combo of what we have here and what they have there if you follow

We need propaganda to tell you socialism is good. Because facts and history will tell us otherwise.

How is legal Pot Socialist? Hell how is legal drugs Socialist? That to me is just the smartest way to end the “War on Drugs” which will NeVer happen BTW. Our Gov controls the War On Drugs and they get kick backs from the Privatized Prison systems. No way is either side gonna kill the goose laying all those gold eggs.

Laxdad ts right none of this is socialist unless its its free paid for by the taxpayer. I as a Republican would like to see recreational weed legalized. You already understand minimum wage should be a state decision and..............polls? Really. Fox news has been exposed anyway.

If Socialism was so popular, Bernie Sanders would have won the primary. Even the MSM got worried that Bernie was leading early. The Dems called on the racebaiting plantation owner from SC to promote Joe. They knew Bernie couldn't beat Trump, especially in the battleground states.
