At the Bye: Ravens Around the League

I remember hearing before that regarding the Ravens, not only do they have more home-grown drafted and UDFA players on their own roster, but they also have more drafted and UDFA players on other NFL rosters, than any other team. So with the Ravens on a bye week, here's where we can talk about the state of former Ravens who are still around the league. Did you know all these guys donned the Purple and Black?

Quincy Adeboyejo (UDFA 2017) - the first of many players on this list who's been on the Jets (2019). Also the first of many who's been on the Patriots (2020). He is currently on IR from waivers so we may or may not see him again.

C.J. Board (UDFA 2017) - The Titans, Browns, and Jaguars have all taken turns adding and subtracting Board from their PS. He finally saw action in 2019 before being waived. The Giants picked him up for this season and he's started the last four games for them. He has 7 receptions for 66 yards so he hasn't made much out of those starts... but he's still hanging in there.

Terrance Brooks (3rd R 2014) – Brooks has played in 85 NFL games. No I'm not kidding. The Ravens released him after two seasons, and since then he's played primarily special teams for the Eagles, Jets, and Patriots. He's still in New England. He has yet to record an interception but he has 90 career tackles including 11 this season.

Maurice Canady (6th R 2016) – signed by the Cowboys after playing eight games for the Jets in 2019, he opted out of the 2020 season. As bad as they've played on defense they may be welcoming him back next year.

Trevon Coley (UDFA 2016) - cut by Baltimore, then Washington, Coley was picked up by the Browns and somehow started 29 games for them in 2017-18. This has given him the notoriety pass and he just played last week for the Cardinals where he recorded 3 tackles.

Kamalei Correa (2nd R 2016) – sent to the Titans before the '18 season, he spent two solid years there as a rotational OLB and ST star. After the win over the Bills he requested a trade and Tennessee immediately dealt him to the Jaguars where he started for them last week.

Carl Davis (3rd R 2015) – bounced around after two seasons in Baltimore, he's played for the Browns, Colts and Jaguars. Just last week the Patriots signed him to their active roster off the Jags practice squad.

Jermaine Eluemunor (5th R 2017) – traded to the Patriots, he's still with the team and was a starting G for them until just recently when he went on IR. He is expected back in a few weeks. He's also going bald very quickly.

Joe Flacco (1st R 2008) – I mean, I have to include him. He just started for the Jets.

Ryan Jensen (6th R 2013) – after posting a career year in 2017, he left for a fat contract with the Buccaneers. Lately got into a one-sided verbal shouting match with Tom Brady.

Timmy Jernigan (2nd R 2014) – traded to the Eagles after the '16 season, he started fifteen games for their Super Bowl championship team; the high point of his career to date. After three years there, he was a late FA signing for the Jaguars, who released him, and then the Broncos, who released him just four days ago. He's got 1 tackle and 1 QB hit this season.

Kyle Juszczyk (4th R 2013) – one of the guys that played out his rookie contract and left for a comp pick. He's been in San Francisco ever since, making his second, third and fourth Pro Bowls at FB. Fortunately the Ravens found Pat Ricard, so they are responsible for both Pro Bowl FBs in 2019.

Bronson Kaufusi (3rd R 2016) – one of the many Jets on this list, spent two seasons on their active roster before being waived and placed on their practice squad for 2020.

Nick Keizer (UDFA 2018) - just this season the Chiefs have him as their blocking TE. He's listed as having two starts and has a whopping 1 reception for 2 yards, but that's not why they're playing him.

Alex Lewis (4th R 2016) – another Jet, he's started all six games for them at OT after twelve games last season as a G. He is doubtful to play today with a shoulder injury.

Wil Lutz (UDFA 2016) - the Ravens have been supplying kickers for the NFL for years; Lutz is no exception, making the Pro Bowl last season for the Saints.

CJ Mosley (1st R 2014) – signed for big money as a FA after making four Pro Bowls as a Raven, he had an injury plagued season for the Jets and then opted out of the 2020 season.

Patrick Onwuasor (UDFA 2016) - Peanut was a fan favorite for two seasons before disappointing in 2019, and the Jets picked him up of course. Currently on IR.

Kelechi Osemele (2nd R 2012) – left after his rookie deal for the Raiders. He immediately made two Pro Bowls and earned a First Team All Pro selection in 2016. After injuries hampered him he went to the Jets followed by the Chiefs, where he had a brief resurgence before landing on season ending IR.

Tim Patrick (UDFA 2017) - One of 2020's fantasy waiver claim darlings, he was originally a Raven. He was soon claimed by the Niners off the PS, then released, then added to the Broncos PS. He's been an active member of Denver's WR corp for three years now.

Breshad Perriman (1st 2015) – the Ravens gave up on him after two seasons, after which he's played for three teams in three years; the Browns, Bucs, and Jets. He has continued to show flashes and is likely to stick in the NFL at least as a journeyman WR. He is up to 1652 career yards and 11 TD.

Michael Pierce (UDFA 2016) - one of the biggest losses this season, literally and figuratively, Pierce signed a fat contract with the Vikings, but opted to sit the season. So 2020 is a donut for Pierce.

Jaleel Scott (4th R 2018) – currently on the Jets practice squad, recently made the “Practice Squad Power Rankings” list on CBSSports which is frankly just a funny premise.

Greg Senat (6th R 2018) – called up to the Cowboys week 5 for special teams duties, he may find offensive snaps this week with Zack Martin out.

Trent Sieg (UDFA 2018) - teams are put on notice when the Ravens bring in a special teams guy, and so he is now the long snapper for the Raiders.

Zach Sieler (7th R 2018) – starting DL for the Dolphins after Davon Godcheaux went down with injury. He has a nickname now, “The RV”, because he still lives in an RV. He's got 1.5 sacks, 4 QB hits and 13 tackles.

John Simon (4th R 2013) – the Ravens only gave him a shot for one season, then made the mistake of cutting him while thinking he'd stick on their practice squad. Houston signed him. Since then he's played for the Texans, Colts and Patriots, and he's amassed 20 sacks and 245 tackles while setting a fierce edge. He's started all five games for the Patriots in 2020, playing over 70% of their snaps.

Za'Darius Smith (4th R 2015) – one that got away, the Ravens let him go to the Packers after his rookie contract for big money and a comp pick. He proceeded to record 13.5 sacks and make the Pro Bowl. He's on track for another.

Tyrod Taylor (6th R 2011) – Tyrod Taylor is a Pro Bowl QB. No I'm not kidding. He made it with the Bills in 2015. He has 47 career starts, a 24-21-1 record, 9770 yards, 54 TD, 20 INT and a 89.5 QB rating. He's best described as a solid backup and he could probably play that way till he's 40 years old if he wanted to.

Brent Urban (4th R 2014) – the Ravens actually resigned this guy for one year after his rookie contract, but then let him go to the Titans, who cut him mid-2019 season. He then went to the Bears, where right now he is one of their most important DL reserves. He has a sack, a QB hit, 12 tackles and a PD.

Kaare Vedvik (UDFA 2018) - we may not have seen the last of the Norse punter/kicker. He is currently on Washington's PS after bouncing around.

Rick Wagner (5th R 2013) – left for a comp pick in 2017 and headed to the Lions where he performed admirably for three seasons. Currently the primary backup OT for the Packers.

Darren Waller (6th R 2015) – we all know Waller's story by now; he was pumped full of drugs in Baltimore, sobered up and is now one of the best receiving TEs in the league for the Raiders.

Darious Williams (UDFA 2018) - played in three games that season for the Ravens. The Rams picked him up off waivers and since then, he's morphed into their #3 CB. Has 4 GS, 2 INT, 5 PD and 17 tackles this season.

Maxx Williams (2nd R 2015) – moved on to the Cardinals after four mediocre years; he was the primary TE for them in 2019 and has spent most of this season on IR.

Chris Wormley (3rd R 2017) – part of the Steelers fearsome front seven, but as a minor rotation player. Only 3 tackles on the year so far.

Kenny Young (4th R 2018) – part of the now infamous Marcus Peters heist. Started three games for the Rams this season, has 22 tackles and a QB hit.

Kyle Juszczyk would have been awesome I bet in the Ravens offense now. Miss that guy they don’t really do a whole lot with Ricard like I thought they would.

They paid big bucks for him. Way more than I could ever imagine paying a fullback.

Thanks for doing the legwork on this, WNC. It's another nice view of how successful the Ravens have been at drafting NFL-caliber players (even if they don't end playing in Baltimore).

Brooks was the defender covering Andrews on the clutch 3rd&6 conversion against NE last year (Q3, 07:16). He played 21 snaps in that game.

Davis received some high praise from Belichick when the media asked him about the signing

Question: What traits does DT Carl Davis have that make you want to work with him?
Bill Belichick: “He’s got some experience and he’s available.”

Kaufisi, a DL in Baltimore, is now a TE: https://www.si.com/nfl/jets/news/ny-...osition-switch

Ugh, he tore tendons in both his knees: https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-knees-sunday/

Who infamously lost his most recent starting job after the Chargers doc botched a routine injection of painkillers for a rib injury (the doctor punctured Taylor's lung. Herbert got the surprise start and has since been named the starter).

    MOAR STUFF

Daniel Brown (UDFA 2015) - spent one unflattering season in Baltimore, then went to Chicago and then New York. Currently a backup TE for the Jets.

DeAndre Carter (UDFA 2015) - it's been a long road for DeAndre. He's been with the Raiders, Patriots, Niners, Eagles and Texans. He's stayed in Houston since 2018 as a reserve WR and primary return man.

Nick Easton (UDFA 2015) - anyone remember he was originally a Raven? Well, the Niners traded a conditional 2016 draft pick for him, then let him go to the Vikings. Easton started 17 games for them before the Saints gave him a 4 yr, $24 mil contract. He's started all five games for the Saints at G this season.

James Hurst (UDFA 2014) - all things considered, he's been a success in the NFL as an undrafted player. He's finally out of Baltimore, and was active last week as the primary reserve OT for the Saints.

He came into the league with Houston in 2012 (so ineligible for this list), came to Baltimore under Kubiak. Played 3 more season, all with TEN.
