Re: ravens will sign DEZ to practice squad

Another panic signing band-aid for receiver this team typically makes.

    Could be (all reasonable speculation)
    1. Light a fire under Boykin
    2. Mentor Boykin
    3. Reduction in leverage for other teams trying to trade with Ravens (AJ Green, AB, Fuller, Cobb, Cooks, etc...)
    4. Smokescreen for something else
    5. Test fan reaction to player with DV history
    6. Maybe they just like him
    7. Maybe as a favor to or placate someone
    8. Something else I haven't thought of

This doesn't seem like a straight forward move but also seems low risk
Didn’t Boykin have like a day or two of good practice after they brought him in to workout in august? Lol.

    This screams desperation to me.

A panic signing would be signing him to the active roster and dumping someone of value for his spot.

I don't disagree, but after taking on Ngakoue, we may not the resources to trade for/sign a higher profile WR (if one is available)... Bc

Dez is washed and they think he can make other receivers have to fight for playing time.

I’m not buying into this notion that they’re playing head games with Boykin, but if someone threatening to take his spot wakes him up that’s a good thing. If Dez can play at all still that’s even a better thing.

Really low risk move for Ravens with upside. I think it's fine

It might not be head games but maybe hoping for mentoring?

Very low risk. I won't under estimate Dez. It's possible he still can play well. Everyone thought Carmelo Anthony was done in the NBA. You never know.
