Speaking for myself, I have been extremely clear that I have not written off Boykin, declared him a bust, or generally gotten bent out of shape by his mistakes.

I've been clear that, from my vantage point, his very few targets are running about 33% too pedestrian to be encouraged or discouraged by...33% problematic...and 33% positive.

I could not be any clearer in stating that he has been inconsistent, and that inconsistency needs to be addressed if we are going to conclude he is on track to nailing down the #2 WR spot.

My negativity is directed not toward Boykin (I am neutral) but to those who are trying to make a case that the positives far outweigh the negatives, or that simply getting more reps will surely net positive results.

Refuting these claims is not the same as quitting on the player.

    Lol, sure can't tell.

And, if you were to grade only his targets (i know how sensative you are about doing a complete evaluation that would include as many non-targets as possible) but using only his targets the positives do outweigh the negatives and what's more they're all posted in that thread IF godforbid you would actually discuss the plays. So when i say the positives outweigh the negatives its a statement of fact based on the film.

To be clear, you're actually refuting your strawman claim here.

I've clearly stated he needs more targets to be properly evaluated not that more targets will surely net positives results.
That notion is a fiction of your creation.

And let's be real your real gripe is with me personally, always has been lol.

My remark came off way more pointed than I intended, on re-reading.

I did NOT mean, "one mistake and some idiot Chicken Littles think my favorite WR's career is over." But given how the Boykin discussion has gone, I can understand how my stray comment could be read that way.

I just meant, our passing volume is low enough that one mistake – by anyone, Hollywood or Duvernay or Snead or Boykin or Lamar – seems like it can end a drive, slow us down for a quarter, make us want Roman to abandon the passing game completely, etc etc. With low volume, any single mistake is magnified.
    WHAT'S WRONG WITH LAMAR?!??
WHY IS STUPID ROMAN ABANDONING THE RUNNING GAME?!??
    Etc.

Wasn't about you. Nor about Boykin, except tangentially.

That's an odd thing to say, though. It's usually the case that, with good coaching and good players around him and reasonable game situations, getting more reps does net positive results.

I haven't seen you refute anything, where Boykin is concerned. All you've done is state that you disagree. Make anything like a case with evidence: no.

Nor do Hollywood or Snead or Duvernay. Only Andrews has really shown that at the NFL level.

If Dez can be a "security blanket" for Lamar, that could be huge.
    Whoa, we agree!

Honestly, IF Boykin is to succeed, I think a player like Dez could help him. Dez in the meantime can help us, perhaps do the Baltimore Old WR thing and rejuvenate his career.

i suppose it's possible, but if the ravens were trying to send a message by putting him on the PS, it would kind of defeat the purpose. even tho it's the steelers i say let him get back into NFL mode more slowly and maximize his chance of success when they do call him up. if we were 2-4 not 5-1 maybe it'd be different. i think it'll happen at the right time though, this is a good organization. maybe not even next game, maybe two weeks from now.
