I'm pretty sure my left leaning ass high fives and fist bumps a passionate Trump support each week in my section at the stadium.

The truth is that real sports fan don't really care. The folks gripping about politics in sports really have other bones to pick.

Hell, if Mark Andrews sported a MAGA hat in a presser....I would be like hmmm, interesting...but would instantly pivot to..I hope he catches two TDs this week... Glad he is on my team.

So, you and your friends lean left, but miss one of their biggest platforms? To the left, it’s all about feelings. There can be no winners or losers because that means that someone’s feelings will get hurt. How can you miss this? What’s next? Are you going to tell us that you and your friends don’t believe in safe spaces?

This is a very interesting link.

It suggests that on the whole, there is a significant right lean in the NFL's core audience.

Which means that the impact of the stats from the original post is even more significant than it appears.

In other words... if the NFL was down 17% among republicans... it was probably down more like 25% in total audience share.

No wonder they knocked this stupid shit off... the league office was probably being savaged by the owners.
I really don’t see how anyone who leans right can watch the NFL. It goes against the core of the right - law and order. The right does not typically support gang-bangers, drive-by shootings, sexual assault, resisting lawful arrest, etc. these have all become the new face of the NFL. This is what they support.

Man. Don’t you know there is no gray. It’s all Black or all White. And I’m not talking skin color.

Some of these dudes believe you have to be in all the way. There is no moderate. All Democrats are evil , socialist pigs who want to destroy the US. All Republicans are god fearing , gun toting , constitution loving conservatives who Love the US.

I mean how can someone possibly separate their politics and simply enjoy a sporting event?

I don't believe there's a gray with respect to individual rights or liberty.

    There is no moderate.

You're either a free man, or you're not.

    also, I'm agnostic.

We’ve already discussed how you’re not the typical Reb. I don’t believe you only see black and white in anything.

Individual rights and liberties I agree are absolutes. That’s why I don’t have a problem with players kneeling. Protesters burning the flag. People speaking out against Abortion or gay marriage. Or gays being married. Gays adopting. Women’s right to Abortion.

It’s absolute. Unfortunately most on the right see it as all way right. Same goes for a lot or most of the left ..all things are flexible or demolishable. Both are wrong.

The NFL relies on what some would call socialism to function. Salary cap, reverse draft order, player unions, etc. Heavy regulation and trying to ensure parity are two of the hallmarks of the leagues structure. I am Surprised nobody mentioned that yet.

Nobody that has a life to live and got responsibilities thinks about any of these things you say. It's unimportant. Only people with bones to pick worry about crap like that.

Especially when it comes to sports. We worried about why we can't move the damn ball anymore.

Not in this thread but it's been brought up before. And it's a perfect example of why socialism sucks.

this is not true. The NFL is a capitalistic structure. The NFL exists for profit. As soon as owners, players, staff, stops making money, they stop. If the NFL was a socialist environment, the Gov would own the NFL teams, not individuals. The players would all get the same small pay. Not a pay for performance.
