Re: A Contract with Black America
Oh geeze. Let’s try to go one by one
The best change for this country is Biden. Many believe he is the root cause for the division in this country. It was the Obama Biden admin that failed to accept the last election result. They dug in deep and spied on the Trump campaign. Then they made up a fake scandal and divided the country with false allegations that Trump was a Russian. Biden should be in jail for this.
I don’t know the Bin Laden conspiracy. But as stated above, you had no issue with the Russia conspiracy
75% of the people that got the virus, wore masks. They is from the CDC report. Just look at Kamlia and her staff. They always have a mask on, and staff still got it. This virus is way over blown. 86% of those that test positive, never show symptoms. Just with that information, we can conclude that thousands had the virus, never had symptoms, and never got tested. So the percentage that get the virus and never show symptoms will be much higher
He didn’t downplay the virus. He was honest. This virus is not impacting 99% of the population. 7 months in, and less than 10 million infected. Compare that to the swim flu, we had 60 million infected. We will never know how many people does FROM covid, because most does from something else, but tested positive for covid
He might not be perfect on trade. It he is better than anyone in the past recent history. And I will take his approach over the Obama Biden approach. But then again, Biden seems to be tight with China.
You have a problem with trump questioning an election, you should be livid with Biden. He corrupted the election process the way he and Obama handled the past election. And let’s not forget, so far, we only have Democrats on record for saying they will not concede defeat no matter what
No one elver said trump doesn’t do anything wrong. We do one say the left and the media think trump is the cause of everything wrong, when in fact, it’s the complete opposite

Re: A Contract with Black America
Thanks for a sincere response.
I think you're an honest guy, and that we could probably sit down and find a lot of common ground.. and some things we disagree about profoundly. I've think we've both been a little bombastic at times, but generally I think there's a mutual respect. And that's a hopeful sign to me. That two guys on such vastly different sides of the chasm can still communicate.
A lot of the things you cite as concerns about Trump, are some of the few things I consider worth supporting him for. I generally favor low taxes.. minimal regulation.. a climate that encourages business, etc. If I have characterized your position well, I think you do too.
But you cite Trump's character flaws and his egocentricity, and his twitter compulsion, and his feuds with guys like Sasse (who I consider a doofus) to be reasons not to support him. I don't care about any of these things.
There's a very real culture war going on in this country. And it isn't accidental or incidental. It is designed. It's intent is to destroy the last remain hope for individual liberty on the face of the planet, and to replace it with socialist serfdom. It's methods are manufactured social strife, instigation of class, racial and gender division. And offering solutions that will only further divide.
Guys like me (in spite of your assertion to the contrary) don't see Trump as an idol. We don't even see him as a good tool to resist this coming war. But he isn't advocating policies that will hasten our demise.. and insofar as he resists the coming tide at all, however poorly, he'll have my support because the alternative is too bleak to think about.
You have chosen to support what I consider to be the instrument of our national demise.. not because of policy, but because the purveyor of the opposite policy rubs you the wrong way. He rubs me the wrong way too. He makes me cringe more than half the time he speaks. But he's willing to do the dirty work that needs to be done, and that's good enough for me right now.
One way or the other, this is all very likely to end up on with people on the opposite sides of very real battle lines. And it makes me sad to think that there will be people like us on either side of it.Last edited by owknows; 10-16-2020 at 03:49 PM.

The last one, number 13 eluded to it. I can’t tell you what to do but it takes less than 5 minutes to read it all. Now a lot of it is a load of shit for sure, but there were some legitimate things in there as well, and he acknowledges in the last one there are a lot of things the black community needs to fix.

I'll continue reading it but it takes a lot more than 5 minutes to read the full 22 page contract.
I spent about 5 minutes and got about 5 pages in.
So far it is just more of the same affirmative action handout shit we've been doing for 60 years. Tell me, how is doing more of the same, going to change anything?

Re: A Contract with Black America
Lol idk how some of yall believe the USA is the last bastion of Liberty, but yet we are ranked pretty averagely to slightly above average in social mobility. There are plenty of countries where you have way more freedom.

Re: A Contract with Black America
I'm sure it appears sensational to some.
There are an awful lot of people in this country though, who swore an oath to preserve and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
And they view socialism and communism as antithetical to, and incompatible with the Constitution of the United States. And will not tolerate it here. Whether voted for or not.
They don't see this country as a mob-rule democracy. But as the Constitutionally Limited Republic administered by democratic means. And the Constitution limits the functions of the federal government to specifically enumerated powers, and absolutely prohibits federal usurpation of the rights of individuals. And socialism and communism absolutely require the usurpation of the rights of individuals.
So you may see this all as funny. A cause to laugh out loud. But I would suggest that this is a miscalculation on your part.

Re: A Contract with Black America
I really don't find the rankings of liberty in the United States compiled by European Socialists to be all that meaningful.
Nor do I suggest that the erosion of liberty already happening in the US isn't alarming in it's own right.
As your post suggests... a reset is overdue.

Re: A Contract with Black America
The thing is, LITERALLY every advancement that we have made as a country is due to socialism! If you break it down to two things: 1. Roads 2. Education. We would not be where we are as a country if we decided not to come together and socialize those two things. It's crazy how often y'all dismiss the greatness that socialism has brought us.
