A death in dueling Denver protests

A man has been shot dead during rival protests by leftwing and rightwing groups in the US city of Denver.

Police arrested a suspect who NBC News affiliate, KUSA-TV, said was working as a security guard to protect the station’s crew, according to its website.

“It has been the practice of (KUSA) for a number of months to hire private security to accompany staff at protests,” the station said.

The shooting took place on Saturday in a courtyard at the Denver Art Museum during a so-called “Patriot Rally” that was met by counter-protests by groups who dubbed their rally a “BLM-Antifa Soup Drive”.

Denver police chief of investigations, Joe Montoya, would not confirm if the suspect worked for the station. Neither the victim nor the suspected shooter has been identified by authorities.
Montoya said police kept the two groups separated, and there were no other arrests during the competing rallies.

A photographer for the Denver Post captured an image of a man spraying a chemical agent at another man with a drawn hand gun.

Rightwing media and social media was pushing this as a murder by antifa. Ian Miles Cheong was at ThePostMillennial, though he's updated it. Conservative Review did the same thing as Cheong: push it as an "antifa murder" only to update later.

Media pushing an agenda. In this case, rightwing media leaping to blame antifa for a murder that, as the facts have been coming out, may have been justified self-defense. We'll see.

I don't know Colorado's self-defense laws, let alone whether deadly force is justified in response to less lethal force like OC pepper spray or bear spray.

I'm pretty sure we know that the shooter was a security guard hired by a news crew that was on scene... and that there is a picture of the person who was shot, spraying a chemical agent at the security guard.

So... it sounds like the instigator was an ANTIFA left winger who tried to give a security guard a faceful of chemical... and then got what he deserved in return.

If so... nothing of value was lost.

The shooter must have been Antifa. And there must be no denying it.

That's why they've switched to this playbook. Instead of the media misidentifying him as a "right winger" they are know going to accuse "conservative" media of doing what they always do. Lie about the motives of domestic terrorists.

Hmmm... The city of Denver has released a statement saying the Shooter (who has been arrested) was not licensed or authorized to work as a security guard in the City of Denver.

He (the shooter) is being held without bond, and will be charged with murder in the first degree.
