This might be "just another game" for KC but it means a lot more to the Ravens.

This is a punch your weight game.

This is a "to be the best you gotta beat the best game".

WHEN the Ravens win this game it will establish them as a true SB contender.

It will give them the confidence of not just thinking they're better then KC but it will give them the confidence of having done it.

eddie, I totally agree! In every season you can look @ the schedule and find an "important" game or three. While it's early, these are the Super Bowl champions we're playing. If it's some bottom-feeder then you expect a win, but here nobody knows until midnight on Monday who will be victorious. Check out the thread "The OFFICIAL Chiefs @ Ravens MNF Prediction Thread" and you'll see that not everyone predicted a Ravens victory. As ed posted "This is a punch your weight game" and it can tell a lot about if your team is a contender or a pretender. BTW, my prediction was :
Two top-notch teams battle it out on Monday Night Football. Could we ask for more? Although this game could go either way, I foresee a close Ravens victory, much of which comes off Justin Tucker's leg : 26 - 24... Bc

Good thread here man good discussions going on here. In my opinion ravens are an elite team in the NFL but are they ready for a Super Bowl run? This game will answer that question. So yes this is a huge game.

    Wasn't last year.
Are you sure? The Chiefs had the bye week in last year's playoff, and enjoyed home field advantage in the AFC playoffs, and advanced to the SB.

Since we won the SB LXVII, in only one year (2018) has a team played even one playoff game on the road and made it to the Super Bowl.

Think his point was it didn't matter for us.

The Ravens had home field advantage over the Chiefs throughout the playoffs.

The Ravens went 14-2, the Chiefs went 12-4, the Patriots went 12-4.

And, despite having the best record in the NFL during the regular season, and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, the Ravens lost their first playoff game.

The home field advantage - to the Ravens, just last year - just isn't that important. They had it and it didn't help them win a single playoff game.

The Chiefs hosted the AFC Championship game last year because the Ravens were already out of the playoffs. If the Ravens were in the AFC Championship game last year, that game would have been in Baltimore.

What the Ravens should do is whatever it is that does in fact help them win all the playoff games.

This game tonight with the Chiefs is the closest thing to an AFC Championship game preview that you're likely to see.

Should the Ravens throw every possible trick they have in their bag of tricks at the Chiefs in order to win this game? Or should they hold a considerable amount in reserve for the eventuality that they'll meet in the playoffs?

    1) it matters today

    2) it will matter for tie breakers if needed for seeding

    3) It matters more to fans for the shit talking that will reign down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger on the others side. If we win, chiefs fans will call it our superbowl and its only weeks 3. If we lose, they own us.

We are both different teams than last year, all we can do is play our game and not get away from what we do best and what is working at the time like we did last year

Our defense will never have a shot at slowing down Mahomes unless they find some real impact pass rushers.

The only defenses that give the Chiefs offense problems are the ones that can consistently get good pressure with just 4 and allow for shell zone coverages.

We will never slow them down having to blitz like we do, Reid will just screen us to death.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Most of us predicted they would score in the 30's, that shouldnt' be a surprise. It's that they still haven't figured out that Titan's D look and how to attack it.

It's not a surprise they scored in the 30's, it's how dumb easy it was for them. They should have come close to 40 if their kicker didn't shit the bed last night.
