Just how Momentous is this game?
I was discussing this with a friend, and everyone knows the age old,” This is just another game”, but is it true?
Im not saying this will forever alter the But it could have a lasting impact for a few reasons.
1.) The cap saving maneuver we made may well have been for this game. Obviously not signing a free agent yet, but if this game shows a serious deficiency I think Eric may well be working the phones Tuesday. I think this front office knows this might be the best chance we have, this year or next.
2.) The Chiefs were able to get a lot of people on some team friendly deals, good for them. If we can’t next year our team could make a divide in talent between us and the chiefs, which let’s face it is our only real competition in the AFC, possibly the NFL, right now. If we don’t win this year, it could be a less than ideal situation considering the cap shrinking next year at minimum.
3.) Seeing as their is only one bye for the playoffs this year, seeding is far more important this year than previous years, and looking at our schedule after the chiefs there is nobody scary. I think the steelers are an easy win, although the pats could be tricky. If we beat the Chiefs I think 14-2 or 15-1 is realistic.
4,) Say we lose, does it change a team philosophy? Instead of run game and defense, do we try to match the track meet in KC, and do we ultimately Draft differently?
All of these are a lot to attach to a single game, but this is easily the biggest game for us this year. Does anybody else see it as this significant, or at least possibly so?

Week 3, not really. It’s rightfully being billed as ‘Battle of the Titans’, but in the grand scheme of things there’s still three and a half months of season left. What it will do is establish the AFC front runner for at least a week.

It's going to matter a ton if we see them in the postseason

Only matters more than any other week 3 game because of playoff seeding and the new format.

If we win, we probably won't lose at all this season.

Re: Just how Momentous is this game?
To me, when you look back at what happened last year as a result of the back to back poor defensive performances...it effected the rest of the season. I think this game might have a similar effect. Confidence is a huge factor in the NFL. And the Ravens have a lot of young quality stars. If they take the Chiefs, that may very well propel them the rest of the season. They would then believe they are good and may very well become even more focused.
“They gonna get a Super Bowl outta me. Believe that…Believe that”, Lamar, after being drafted by the Ravens.

I see it only being meaningful in that the Ravens need to prove they can beat Mahomes, because they haven't been able to yet. It's like when they had to get over the Roethlisberger hump during the early part of Harbaugh's run, losing 6 straight against him (often in the same way they have lost to Mahomes) until they finally kicked his ass in the 2011 opener. I'd like to see them win for that reason, but otherwise, eh. It's a W3 game...
