Re: Future of the Republican Party
yeah,yeah...pull out some 50 year old comment.... or talk about his support for the crime bill...old, outdated news.
What i find really strange on here is that the libertarians support Trump. A guy who clearly stated that he "holds all power", that he "is the law", that he can do "whatever I want".
That has chosen to govern by EO rather than the legislative branch (seems kinda dictatorial to me, especially considering he has said he is "the greatest deal maker in the world"). That he is gona shrink government then continues its expansion while giving tax cuts that are financed by debt. All very recent. That seems strange to me.

Re: Future of the Republican Party
He's the first president in decades to tell the military industrial complex to fuck off.
He's the first president in decades to at least ATTEMPT to check the power of rogue federal agencies.
He's the first president in decades to openly say that socialism sucks, and oppose it.
He's the first president in decades to recognize and oppose the subversion of the republic.
Is he a horrifyingly bad candidate, and a weak steward of the Constitution?
You bet....
But imagine what an absolute turd sandwich I think your candidate is, for me to be voting for this guy.

Squirrel... over there... look...
I didn’t say anything about Trump, didn’t deny he may also be racist, but are you trying to suggest Biden is NOT a racist, is no longer a racist, or are you just trying to change the subject for some other reason?
Because it’s pretty damn unarguable that he is currently a racist, no matter how anyone feels about anyone else.

Re: Future of the Republican Party
Once again a great convo ends up being a race convo. It happens everytime with people who say they dont like race being injected into everything.
I think the Republican party will reset itself once Trump leaves office. No way they'll continue his way of doing things. It will be easy to do once Barrett gets confirmed. They will run away from him faster than roaches with the lights on. Count on it.
When he is on the sidelines as a citizen spouting whatever, they'll just ignore him.
I actually think the party after Trump leaves will be more appealing for others. It will seem mild after him. I think they have a good play for other voters after that. Once they kickout those who rode Trump's nuts the hardest. If they purge the Trump stink, I'd really consider buying in

Re: Future of the Republican Party
I think this is mostly incorrect analysis tbh.
Trump has made the GOP the party of the working and middle class.
If they move away from that they're stupid as shit (of course they are so..) and they will lose votes.
Protectionist trade is now a GOP plank.
Now, Trump has made in roads with black and hispanic voters that I am not sure is possible for another Republican to reproduce.
Until Trump loses- and let's be honest, he's done exactly what he said he would: win- there will be no repudiation of him.

Re: Future of the Republican Party
There has to be a happy medium. I'm sure people don't like him playing his part of ripping the country apart. It takes two to tango for this sh*t we in right now.
I think Trump's biggest gift to the Republican party is that he makes people like me think a Tim Scott or a Ben Sasse are reasonable alternatives.
