    Re: RBG has passed away.

Looks like they are going to move forward with a new nominee.

I’m on the fence with this. Politically, it def looks bad considering the Republicans stonewalled Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland.

However, the past few years have shown that the Democrats are not interested in working together for the common good of this country. They are not interested in compromising with others. They are completely fine with totalitarianism.

In that sense...put a true conservative on the bench and give Pelosi and Schumer the middle finger while you’re doing it.

Amy Coney Barrett will receive a vote before the Senate.

She will be sworn in as the next Justice.

She was on the short list with Kavanaugh.

Dang, if someone like Tom Cotton gets into that SCOTUS seat, I'll see you guys on the plantation. Just don't whip me too hard. I'll do my best.

If it's Amy Barrett, then we're all in good hands. I wouldn't mind her at all.

It won’t be him or Cruz.

Cruz still wants to be Prez and I could see Cotton running in 2024 as well.

I think they might want to run too, but I also think they all know this is a historic opportunity. If they can get into that seat, it won't matter who the president is in many respects.

It won't be one of the male Senators. No way. Too blatantly political. And nobody likes either of those guys.

It will Barrett. And a blue dog will be the deciding vote.

This is Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell we're talking about here. You may be right, but I don't think they give af about the optics.

This is a historic opportunity where the dems don't have the numbers to do anything really

Donald Trump doesn't care about the optics?

Eh. You don't seem to know the first thing about Donald Trump.

Edit: I'll expand this because it seems a little snarky.

Literally Trump's first thought on anything is the optics, and has been his whole adult life.

He is DYING INSIDE to put Barrett on that stand, in front of a television, and make the Dems attack her like they did Kavanaugh. Put her on trial for being Catholic.

He's kept her in his back pocket just for this moment.

I don't think Donald Trump cares much for what the rest of his party thinks of him. I think his loyalty is to the [optics] of his base, and not necessarily his base itself if that makes any sense.

    I expanded above.

I don't think Trump is an orthodox Republican. That's pretty clear. And always has been.

He knows what happens if he puts Barrett up. The Dems attack her; it turns everybody off and makes her popular; she gets pushed through because the Pubs have the votes if not the will; the left does their thing and goes violent in the streets; and it helps him win reelection.
