Re: Ravens Are Great: Final Piece?
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Like I said in the OP, it was a nice play but it didn't really speak to his pass rushing skills. Bowser was on like a delay/dummy rush and Chuck Clark actually came screaming through the B gap on a designed blitz and pushed Mayfield out of the pocket and right into Bowser on his delay.

All this talk of Ziggy Ansah is confusing me. Has no-one seen how terrible he's been for the last few years?
Having seen DJ Fluker, I think a back up tackle might be a more pressing need - Wink can always manufacture pass rush if need be. If there's no one available I wouldn't be averse to trading a little draft capital for some OT depth. An injury to Ronnie or Orlando could derail the season.

While i agree the pash rush was not impressive by any means, pretty sure Cleveland has built up there OL. I would say lets give it till week 4 and see how things are so we can have more info to judge

If Mathews is the best available then I’m in. Any little bit helps right? It will probably be like KC picking up Suggs last year minimal impact but who knows?

If we're talking about signing old guys on their last legs anyway, Sizzle is still out there... (can't find a ducking emoji).

Re: Ravens Are Great: Final Piece?
I think that's true for pretty much every contender and their starting Tackle(s). Teams typically don't have starting caliber OT's on the bench, they usually are the caliber of guys like Fluker who are a liability compared to the starter but serviceable in an emergency. I don't think we need to pre-emptively trade for another reserve Tackle. That's something you do when you actually have a confirmed long term injury.
If we trade for a pass rusher they can play right away, just has to be right player & right price as always. I'm hoping Washington starts to tank so we can go after Ryan Kerrigan

Re: Ravens Are Great: Final Piece?
I think Matthews has more juice than Sizz did last year, he already had an offer from Denver. Sounds like he's only unemployed over money demands. The hope would be that he sees how good the Ravens are again this year and gives us the discount that he wasn't willing to give Denver in order to play for a Super Bowl contender.
