It's such bullshit. They literally let the Browns-Texans do a salary dump for a pick with Osweiler... it's the same concept.

According to the NFL you can do it to get rid of a bad player but can't do it to acquire a good player. The NFL shouldn't get to decide that.

Reminds me of the NBA nixing the Chris Paul to the LA Lakers trade.

SSSSSLLLOOOOWWWW. second long 3rd quarter drive i've watched tonight. slowly marching down the field. couple yards here. -1yd pass there. then a dumb pick or a missed 42yd FG. i forgot this from last season, how watching the ravens kinda actually starts spoiling watching other games....

According to the NFL you can do it to get rid of a bad player but can't do it to acquire a good player. The NFL shouldn't get to decide that.

Well, the league also pointed out that Osweiller was under contract, and so that was a case of dealing a player already under Houston's control. Whereas Jacksonville was a complete third party to a deal with a player already on the market.

What it also tells you is that the league values parity. A bad team shedding salary so they can be more competitive is different than an already good team finding a way to circumvent the cap to get even better.
