Receivers Turning to Face the Play?

I've noticed last year or two
a lot of Ravens receivers are turning and facing the QB when they make the catch, instead of catching 'in stride'. especially TEs.

anyone else notice this? is this a thing? has it been around for a while?

if a receiver is running, say, a post, he will run to the post and turn his head to see and catch the ball.

looks like the Ravens are turning their whole bodies to face the qb when they make the catch

Some routes on the routing tree are designed for the receiver to catch the ball in stride while moving away from, or parallel to, the LoS. Post, flat, slant, out, and go routes are examples.
Other routes are designed for the receive to turn back (or actually come back) towards the LoS - curl/hitch and comeback routes.

(You'll occasional see a receiver turn back to the LoS on a back-shoulder throw, but that may or may not be by design).
