No one can. Not even the richest. But you are a man of means. A well-propertied man. You live a lavish life compared to many of your countrymen.

You clearly have the ability to give so much more.

And many need so much more.

What is it that keeps you from putting aside your selfishness, just like you ask of others?

So the next best thing is to vote far left so that far more people would benefit as opposed to just me doing what I can do.
Ah... I see. The next best thing is to be generous with someone else's money.

Cuz that doesn't cost you anything. You get to keep all your shit.

    I'm starting to understand now.

Also, having a computer in order to work is considered living in unnecessary abundance?
Hmmm... you don't think there's someone out there with lesser means than you, who could also use that computer to work?

(now you're just making excuses for your selfish ways)

In what world do you think it’s right for you to give people the power to take other people’s money?

I'm starting to think he might be one of those filthy free market capitalists who believes in private property and stuff.

(at least when it comes to his own shit)

A UBI is actually still very capitalistic in nature. I personally don't believe prices would go up because 1. It hasn't happened in other trialed place and 2. Price competition/price sensitivity is still very much at play. There will always be AT LEAST 1 person willing to offer lower prices in order to reap the benefits.
The more you post the more your economic ignorance shines.UBI capitalistic??? Medicare for all would lower costs????

UBI and a VAT would cancel each other out and waste tons of money in the process.
If we hand everyone $1000/mo, and expect to pay for it by charging a tax on everything purchased, we would have to collect $1300-1400 per person to pay for it. Consumption taxes are regressive in nature, so you hurt the poor even more so.

But that’s always been my biggest problem with socialism. They don’t have to believe in math for it to be factually correct, but they don’t know that.

There are several examples in other countries where VATs are scaled away from certain common goods and scaled more toward more expensive items

Ahhh... bandc is just a kid.

He's young and brash and his head is filled with "save the world" ideas that he thinks are virtuous and kind.

But he's coming to understand through discussion that maybe kindness isn't something people can view unilaterally. That taking somebody else's shit and giving it away is viewed as kindness by the beneficiary of free shit... but maybe not so much by the people from whom you took it.

I try to cut him a little slack, although it's sometimes hard to suffer smug and ignorant at the same time.

But it's not totally his fault... he's a product of our negligence. Our failure to check the tide of marxist ideology we knew was infecting education and media.

And he seems like a bright enough guy that he'll probably learn.... if he ever has any success in life at all... he'll learn... the parasites will be licking their chops at the product of his labors... and nothing evangelizes a marxist like parasites lining up and eyeballing the success that puts food on their family's table.

I only hope that by that time, it isn't too late.

Won't be if I can help it. I've sworn an oath to prevent it.

While regressive, does it not seem more fair to have a consumption tax rather than income tax?
