Right but you have to pay into it to collect it. John Q homeless dude who’s a junkie and never had a job can’t collect a SSI check, nor Unemployment. You have to work to pay into those accounts.

    False

SSI benefits are paid by the Social Security Administration whether you've ever worked or not.

They are supposed to be funded by federal tax dollars...

But they are funded by "borrowing" money from the general Social Security Trust

He can if he's deemed disabled. These days, that's not hard to do. The current amount they can draw is set at $783 for individuals. SSI is basically disability for those deemed disabled, but either never worked or earned enough credits to draw regular disability. There are currently over 5.3 million people collecting SSI. So, a person, in theory, can get a doctor to say they have one of a multitude of eligible things wrong w/them, never work a day in his/her life and draw $783/mo for eternity (w/COL raises). I think that they automatically qualify for Medicaid, also......among other things.

And of course having qualified for this... you then qualify for free food, housing, utilities, medical care, a smartphone, education, and whatever else you may need or desire.... from the thousands of other programs.

All quite true. It may also induce one to vote Democrat. I mean.....why not? Pretty good gig the Dems have going. Convince a good sized chunk of voters that you have their best interests at heart, set up a shitload of programs for them, have them become dependent on said programs, get them to believe that they are indeed victims, get the taxpayers to foot the bill and there it is. The Democratic platform in a nutshell.

Not saying you guys are wrong about SSI but ....if it’s not based and funded from working ...why do I get a Statement of Benefits every year that breaks down how much I’ve paid in yearly since I was 18? And the longer I work at a higher wage my lower wage years fall off and my draw increases ?

I think you may be confusing regular Social Security w/the SSI program.

I agree with you about the democratic establishment, but Republicans are no better. In fact it might be even worse.

They convince the common man to foot the bill for unnecessary corporate socialism to the tune of trillions of dollars and then go on to tell the common man that since their taxes aren't going to the "lazy" it's all good.

They are really good at it too.

“A pox on both their houses”

Seriously, both need to be voted out.
