Re: Democratic Party moves farther left - Elliot Engel Out
I live in Maryland, which is a very blue state, but has a very popular moderate Republican Governor in Larry Hogan, that I voted for BTW. Massachusetts has a similar moderate Republican Governor in Charlie Baker. I believe both of these men have around a 70% approval rating in their states. However, I have heard both of them pilloried as being RINOs by the right wing of the Republican Party. I would say that both of them would be considered to be Democrats in quite a few red states in this country.

Democratic Party moves farther left - Elliot Engel Out
Absolutely. Personally, I think we need way more moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats in office in this country. I don’t like the far left Bernie Sanders/AOC wing of the Democratic Party, and am happy that they only represent the views of about one-third of Democratic voters. I equally dislike the politicians on the far right of the Republican Party.

Re: Democratic Party moves farther left - Elliot Engel Out
Any every moderate Democrat is considered left wing by conservatives. It's the same thing at both extremes.
Doug Jones (D-AL) is being attacked as being a left wing radical. In reality, Jones is a moderate Democrat in a very red state, which by default means that he is viewed by some as a crazy liberal. I actually read up on Doug Jones a bit and found that he seems like a very decent fellow. He is running against a former football coach in Tommy Tuberville for a Senate seat from Alabama. Jones will probably lose this race based on ideology, despite being the candidate who would likely provide better leadership for Alabama to get through this COVID-19 pandemic. However, that is a choice for the people of Alabama to make.“When the sea was calm, all ships alike showed mastership in floating.”- William Shakespeare

Can someone clarify what “far right” means?
What policies would a “far right” person support?
