Atheists may oppose Black National Anthem
Another set of leftist yo-yo's-militant atheists-have opposed the Black Anthem in the past. They may be offended by the following verse (if it's played).
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
everyday we lit
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Sports and patriotism don't mix. Neither should sports and religion. As an atheist, you better believe I have a problem with this.

Re: Atheists may oppose Black National Anthem
Why? The bigger issue is the further division that this is going to cause because it will absolutely backfire.
I don't see why the existence of God would offend an atheist though. You don't believe in God but you aren't opposed to the existence of God being a good thing, right? If it was satanic, sure. We'd all be offended there.

Re: Atheists may oppose Black National Anthem
The fact that millions of people believe God exists doesn't offend atheists. And we don't care about athletes praying during games. But to make a prayer an integral part of a public event? Yeah, that kinda p***es us off.
But we won't complain. A lot more serious issues in this country right now.

Re: Atheists may oppose Black National Anthem
I literally do not care about people kneeling, anthems, whatever. I'm not going to let someone else's views ruin my enjoyment of something I love.
I have never one to be offended, by anything. So I just don't get how others are but I'm also a 34 year old white guy.

Re: Atheists may oppose Black National Anthem
OK Let me elaborate. MOST atheists won't care. It would be like if Ravens fans wore black & yellow to the Steelers games. That would just be wrong, but not worth throwing a brick through the TV. And I understand the anthem is just before one game.
I think the OP is trying to make something out of nothing.
