Ben Addicted to Booze and Porn - Is this a Revelation?

Ben Roethlisberger has revealed that he was addicted to alcohol and porn. Duh! A real revelation would be that Ben wasn't addicted and just a regular old asshole. I know this is his way of saying that he's found religion and is all better now but he's almost 40. Shouldn't he have addressed this a decade ago?

    https://www.yahoo.com/sports/ben-roe...000140079.html

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback who’s twice been accused of sexual assault said he wasn’t ready for the fame and fortune provided an NFL star when he joined the league and that he lost touch with his Christian values en route to bouts with alcohol and pornography addictions.

Roethlisberger made these claims as a guest speaker at a virtual conference on Saturday called ManUp Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports. He said that since he married his wife, Ashley Harlan, he’s reconnected with his Christian faith.

‘Not the best Christian I can be’

“I’ve fallen as short as anybody,” Roethlisberger said, per the Tribune-Review. “I’ve been addicted to alcohol. I’ve been addicted to pornography, which makes me then not the best husband, not the best father, not the best Christian I can be.

“You have to dedicate yourself and understand that you can get out of it because of the grace of God.”

He also claims that being baptized for a second time three years ago has made him a better man....

....The Tribune-Review report did not note any mention of the rape accusations during Roethlisberger’s appearance on Saturday. He did admit to making “mistakes,” getting “addicted to things” and “sin.”

“I’m trying to be a better Christian than I am an athlete at football,” Roethlisberger said. “I push myself every day to do that. It starts here. It’s not always easy. People don’t realize all the time that us athletes, we’re human. We sin like everyone else. We make mistakes. We get addicted to things. We sin.”

Pornography is an easy thing to get addicted to these days with it being so easily accessible and can really ruin relationships. Plus how normalized porn and fetishes seem to have been made..

For real. My wife follows a board on babycenter and even with it being all women they would jump on people saying they weren't comfortable with their spouse looking at porn.

Whenever I think of people like this, I always think of Jim Cornette's comments about Shawn Michaels. To Paraphrase "I've noticed that the main time people find God is when they've done so much shit in their life, that no one else will speak to them. When mortals don't speak to you, you find a higher power".

Not a fan of Ben as a person, but if he's truly taking the proper steps to recover from his addictions to porn and alcohol then I fully support that.

Most of the time that's referred to as rock bottom. A lot of people work out their problem before it gets to that level, but there's a subset of people who just don't take action until there's nothing left.

Big Ben to me has always seemed like a throwback to the old days of football: those guys who didn't work out in the offseason (because they had regular jobs), and would spend training camp plus the first couple weeks of the season playing themselves back into shape. I could totally picture him smoking a cigarette in the locker room at halftime, or going out for few beers the night before a game and showing up at the stadium slightly hungover.

Even in games, sometimes it seems that he doesn't really start playing well until he takes a big hit. Something that would knock another QB out of the game, he shakes himself and yells "Woooo! That'll wake ya up in the morning, boys!" And then catches fire.

He's 38 and his arm is held on with a twist tie: BUT I must admit I am scared of the possibilities, of him having started offseason workouts for the first time. All that natural ability plus a little discipline & training could make for a huge problem.

My head tells me he's washed. My heart thinks this is a zombie movie, and I won't be comfortable until I see him double-tapped in the head.

Id bet my savings its mostly single moms and its only because they want the life your wife has but cant have it. They read about you the good husband and provider and it angers them. They are hoping porn destoys your marriage, not quite consciously but thats whats going on. But dont blame those women at all they have been told their poor choices were virtuous and good before they made them. The reality sinks in quickly however. They also defend porn because its bundled in with "feminism" brainwashing kit aimed at American women(to hurt them) and others on social media.

The research has be done, books written. Pornography is awful for young minds. Take a look for yourselves.

Everyone pretty much knows porn is not harmless at this point despite what we read on the tubes.

Id take prime Ben over every other QB of that generation including Brady.

I share your fears, If he can rekindle some of that stupid irritating just keeping every damn play in the redzone alive magic we may have a problem. He won so many of those games for them vs some great Ravens teams. Watching sure sacks just bounce off him was maddening it must be how some people feel watching their teams play vs LJ8.

I think Suggs once compared it to trying to tackle a tree and thats Terrel freaking Suggs saying that.

Eh. Just another millionaire football player who’s career is ending “finding Jesus”.

See also :::Dion Sanders, Micheal Irvin , Ray Lewis. And the list goes on and on.

These dudes lived the Rock Star life and now they regret it.
