Yeah, there's also that. He should be the kick returner too.

You think they’re activating 6 WRs every week? I’ll bet you all my RSR bucks that doesn’t happen.

Good point. Most teams have 5 active gameday.
It might come down to Wallace vs Boykin assuming Devin maintains return duties.
Devin better hope Wallace doesn't go out for kick/punt return.

The returner is a good point. I could definitely see Wallace being inactive some weeks.

This, it's going to be a battle between Boykin and Wallace each week. More run base gameplan Boykin, more pass base Wallace. At least to start off.

At least until Watkins gets hurt right?

I agree that if we only keep 5 WRs active, it's either Wallace or Boykin that sits out. I don't agree that anyone would threaten Duvernay's return job. He showed (2020) that's he's dynamic : Punt rets = 4/46 (11.5 YPP) and KOs = 21/578 (27.5 YPKO) including a dazzling 93 yard KO return. See for yourself - https://youtu.be/OL54bRv8D7Q

As an aside, Duv also caught 20 out of 26 targets (10.1 YPC) plus ran the ball 4 times for 70 yards (17.5 YPC).

Duv has too many multi-talents to keep him off the field... Bc

Assuming they can all do it, then the answer is definite "maybe."

Duplication -- some call it waste; some call it insurance.

If waste, then you toss it away. If insurance, then you ask how valuable it is and what the opportunity cost is.

If Boykin is role player. How valuable is his role? More valuable than, say, a dime DB/Special Teams player. More valuable than, say, a heavy-misdirection/Special Teams player? Boykin might be competing with Anthony Levine and Ben Mason. (Note: one of the reasons I dislike the Mason pick is precisely because he forces a roster spot at low value position and seems to be a street-available talent.) Are Anthony Levine's tackling talents more valuable that Boykin's receiving talents? A definite maybe.

But, if you’re really interested in the questions in your first paragraph.

I would be happy to discuss (I can pull up older posts with the much loved ;) gifs and stats. (later on)

    Cheers!

    Sure, I'm interested.

I can't say that I have a dog in this fight. Nor, however, can I say that I like reading stats. But I'm willing to learn something that I think would help make the Miles Matter clearer.
