Re: Baker Mayfield sucks
He is turning fast into Johnny Manziel 2. And I follow Texas A&M and can tell you that Manziel was better in that year he got the Heisman and beat Alabama at Tuscalooza than Mayfield ever was in Oklahoma. Mayfield played for a powerhouse (at the time), Manziel didn't. In college this makes a huge difference. There is no parity like in the NFL. Manziel didn't make it in the NFL because of his head, Mayfield will be a bust because of a lack of sufficient talent. I call him Manziel 2 only because they were both picked by the Browns as a highly-touted QB coming out of college.
To be fair now, to both players, which QB could ever develop playing for the Browns? Put a young Payton Manning in there and he turns into Tim Couch.

Re: Baker Mayfield sucks
Mayfield hasn't proven anything though so it's hard to write off his poor play as the result of his rib injury. One of the things Browns fans tell me is that he really struggles in the pocket going through his reads seeing the field. He also apparehently struggles getting the ball through and his passes get often tipped.
It's part of the reason why they want him on the move. One of the things that is sort of great as a Raven fan is Mayfield seems like one of those qb's who is just good enough to keep their job and get their 2nd contract but never good enough to be elite. Once he gets his 2nd contract all this talent the Browns have on offense evaporates because they just won't be able to afford to keep Chubb those WR and that Oline. That is the dilemma they are faced withLast edited by boller4president; 10-19-2020 at 03:55 PM.

Re: Baker Mayfield sucks
Colin Cowherd: “Baker Mayfield is the problem. It’s not the running backs, it’s not their offensive line, and it’s not their coaching staff. Baker Mayfield is holding this team back. They’ve had three different head coaches and all of these coaches have been offensive head coaches; you generally don’t get that as a quarterback. I still think this team goes 9-7, and can make the playoffs. Baker Mayfield’s career is 59 touchdowns and 41 picks – that’s what he is. In the last two years he has 32 touchdowns, and 27 picks. That’s a franchise liability. Baker Mayfield looks tiny, and like a little boy playing with bigger older brothers. He looks completely overwhelmed, and the Steelers game plan told you exactly what they thought of Baker – put heat on him and he will fold like a deck chair. He can NOT be your franchise quarterback, and I don’t think this coach and this GM are going to pick up his fifth-year option. He’s Case Keenum with a better arm… Police video, goofy medical staff call out, Duke Johnson call out, too many turnovers, too many commercials, not enough focus, looks small, undersized, and overwhelmed when the offensive line breaks down… They’re going after a new guy, they just aren’t telling anybody yet.”
