Re: Jamal Adams
We just extended Clark, and the Earl/Clark duo worked out great last season. Don’t mess with success

Re: Jamal Adams
I don’t get why some fans think this is a realistic trade option. It’s like they’re playing madden with salary cap turned off.
Proper team building is about finding the right balance of good quality high salaried Players and good quality cheap drafted players. To give up draft capital like a 1st round+more to take in another high salaried player (in a position of depth) when you have Stanley, Humphrey, Lamar, Andrews, Zeus Jr all coming within the next 3 years, doesn’t make sense in team building with the future in mind.
It could work out for us and we win the super bowl in the next 2 years... or we could end up like the Rams. Who went all in, failed, and now in cap hell.

Re: Jamal Adams
Well, close, I just looked up his contract again and you are correct that his base salary of $10M is guaranteed and would be the Jets responsibility. However, his prorated portion of his $20M signing bonus (which has 3 years left at $5M a year...so this year totals $15M) would hit the our cap.
So instead of a $10M hit like I said (would be true only if he's released), it would total a $5M cap hit. More manageable, but still significant considering how close we are approaching the cap.
Edit...after going over the numbers yet again, your post is actually completely correct. The cap hit wouldn't rise or fall...like you said, we'd see no savings, no hit, we'd just have the same cap we have now, just no Earl.Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Re: Jamal Adams
Jamal Adams is the definition of play like a Raven. That’s a safety that you pay top money to.

Re: Jamal Adams
If the source of Jamal's discontent is money, then I don't see how that discontent is assuaged by a trade to the Ravens. He, like Tony Todd's character Captain Darrow from the movie The Rock, will still want his...money.
Moreover, the Ravens would risk a Rams/Ramsey, Texans/Tunsil situation. Namely, the price of the trade triggers a sunk cost trap wherein the team feels the need to justify high price of the trade and does so by paying an imprudent contract price.

Re: Jamal Adams
I agree. Giving up high draft capital for a player on a expiring contract pretty much shifts all leverage to that player during contract negotiations. Why else would Tunsil get 5.5 million more than the previous highest paying LT? Tunsil knew how much Bill O’Brien gave up to acquire him and couldn’t afford to let him walk.
