My company just got acquired and now we have to go through the new company's training.

First on the list - Implicit Bias Training.

This is part of the lawsuit inoculation all companies go through. It's like sexual harassment training and ethics training. So the company can disavow a culture of bias, harassment by saying all employees are made aware of what is and isn't acceptable so it's not us, it's them. Probably makes it easier to fire people that are actually dicks, racists, harassers. They do exists sometimes.

I just had to do a bunch of training too. HIPPA, Sex Harassment, Ethics etc...

The other valid business reason to make your employees do training is it's required for some levels of certification/compliance like SOX. If you can't prove you are forcing all your employees to do ethics, sex harrassment, age discrimination etc.. you lose your certification etc.

And it's already been repeatedly proven that implicit bias is simply too flawed of a concept to be of any use to anybody. Sorry you have to waste your time.

Anyone have stories of people who resist, mock, or otherwise make difficult the task of the cultural reprogrammers?
