Owners vote to expand playoffs to 14 teams
I hate this. Too many teams. 8-8 teams will be getting in on the regular. Dumb decision.

Re: Owners vote to expand playoffs to 14 teams
Regular season games are supposed to be extremely important to the point where losing even just one is a huge deal and that's what makes it that much more exciting. This, takes away from it.

Glad I enjoyed the NFL in it’s glory days. This with the other changes makes me glad I have lost interest over the years.

So half the league makes the playoffs. We NBA now.

Re: Owners vote to expand playoffs to 14 teams
The only equitable way to do this is to either a) go back to 4 teams per conference (division winners only, no wild cards), or b) increase the playoffs to 8 teams per conference (1st & 2nd place teams in each division). Any other system - including the one they currently have - gives far too great an advantage to the teams who get a bye. Teams who play in the first round haven't reached the Super Bowl in years, and that includes division winners. As long as the schedules are unbalanced, there is a huge possibility that a team drawing the bye did so because of a weaker schedule. There should be no byes at all for the playoffs.

Re: Owners vote to expand playoffs to 14 teams
Eight 8-8 teams would have made the playoffs in the 18 seasons since 2002. The same number of 10 win teams would have made the playoffs. I'm much more concerned about the loss of the bye week for the 2 seed. That's a much bigger deal.

Like it. The top team is the only one who gets the bye, and obviously home field. Makes it more of a prize.
