Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Postpone it to when? When things get back up and running, NFL teams will start practicing. But prospects will have to wait for pro days to be scheduled, they’ll have to wait for interviews to be scheduled, then they’ll have to wait for the draft itself, with no clue what team they’ll be on or what type of plays and scheme they’ll be expected to run. That process will take months and they’ll be falling further and further behind the eight ball. So either we’re waiting several months more, even after society has resumed, to start the season solely so rookies can catch up OR this will essentially be a lost season for damn near the entire rookie class.

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Postponing the draft really only works if you’re ready to just cancel the season now (it’s a possibility that that will happen, but hardly a certainty yet)

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Assuming everything recovers in a way that allows us to have a 2020 NFL season, the options are:
Have the draft now
Have the draft in the fall and let rookies scramble to catch up in mere weeks before the season starts
Have the draft in the fall and then delay the start of the season until the winter so rookies can catch up, resulting in an unnecessarily shortened season (which owners will not be on board with because it means less revenue)
Have the draft in the fall, and then another in the spring, but both classes join the league in 2021
They’re all imperfect but I think just carrying on is the best move for all parties. No one’s health is at risk by having it as scheduled. There will be a bit more guesswork involved with the picks but the draft is a crapshoot anyway.

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Ex, no way. Scouts have already seen last year's draft class in action, the Combine is over, and GMs have hundreds of hours of tape to view. Even we fans are doing mock drafts with the information we have gathered. Many teams that call in multiple players for interviews and work-outs make the greatest of draft blunders (the Browns are the poster child)... Bc

Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Is Tua going to drop to the 2nd round because teams can't get a complete new medical workup on him? That's the highest rated prospect with the worst injury. If he's still top 10 then nothing is going to change.
All this extra information doesn't help. The kid who had a video shown at the draft with him smoking something while wearing a gas mask is looking for $20 million a year. The linebacker who multiple doctors said wouldn't make it a second contract right before the draft slipped to the second round and signed an expensive multi-year extension last year. The lineman who told no one to take him because he was in a murder investigation and was worried that he would go from round 1 to round 7 signed a $50 million extension last year.
These are all players whose draft status went down because of up to date last minute information, medical and otherwise. That information does not make the picks automatically end up in the right spots. In many cases its just more noise.
No way should the draft be postponed. Teams have plenty of film, they can talk to every coach who ever met these kids and is just sitting at home. They can speak to the kids over Skype and give them virtual tours of the facilities. It's not ideal but it's a way to work around the situation which is what everyone else who is still employed is doing. The answer isn't just to shut everything down. Free agency has not been ruined by these restrictions. Teams are still spending huge amounts of money. Some players get more and others less just like every year. It's very important to keep going forward as long as you can keep people safe and that's exactly what they did in free agency and are planning to do in the draft.

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Sucks for injured players like Tua who doesn’t get the medical attention necessary to get picked higher but..,
One thing not discussed enough is simply how hard it gets to start the season on time of the draft gets delayed and everything starts down a path of delay...
Do it remotely, it is essentially a made for TV event anyway, you have a couple weeks to remake it as such remotely...

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
It should be done remotely without crowds and what not, but everyone isn't going to want to lose out on the $$$ related. There's no way any event should happen in a month.

Re: Should the draft be postponed?
Providing a distraction to fans is not unimportant for an entertainment business and there's huge gap in the market for the draft.
Most people have found they have to do their job differently at this time if they're able to do it at all. Why should NFL front offices be any different?
Some small school prospects may be missed but most of them will make it as UDFAs or via the XFL if they're good enough. All that will happen is that some players with health and character questions will drop a bit further down and some teams will draft players that are an injury risk. Both things happen every year to a lesser extent anyway.
