Re: Barstool Sports: Pats and Ravens in Trade Talks re Hayden Hurst

Does anyone see NE as a team that is going to trade for Hurst?

    I don't

Apparently talks with Brady about an extension are not going well. So it's not like they are facing a tight window.

There was a severe lack of talent around him. You don't give up picks for one tight end.

And as I've said, all the best tight ends in the league right now were later round picks.

I don't think Belichick go dumb overnight.

The Jags expended a third round pick last year on an athletic TE: Josh Oliver. I don't see why the Jags would feel the need to acquire Hurst, especially given that they are on the downturn of the competitive life cycle.

The Pats: that makes sense if Brady stays.

But the team that should be interested is the Cowboys. They are going to tender Blake Jarwin -- Jarwin was competing against a creaking Witten. The Cowboys brought Witten back last year in part because they recognized that a championship caliber offense had a hole that a savvy veteran might be able to patch. Hurst makes more sense than Jarwin.

Finally, looking down the road: the Redskins are like the Jags in that they are non-competitive. Unlike the Jags, they have no promising young TE on the roster. Ron Rivera knows the value of good tight end and he might want to provide Haskins with the kind of safety-net and playmaker that his Panthers QBs had with a Olsen.

Just to complicate matters: the Ravens play all four of those teams this year.
