2020 NFL Draft - IDL Prospects

Figured we may as well have a thread for another position of need.

    My takes:
    Ross Blacklock - https://russellstreetreport.com/2020...klock-idl-tcu/
    Neville Gallimore - https://russellstreetreport.com/2020...-idl-oklahoma/

Thanks for these GWNR, I was reading them this morning. I was impressed with Blacklock more than I expected after taking a closer look. I think one of these two would be prime candidates for us to land with a trade back into top of the second round.

I'm starting to think more and more that if there's some mixture those 2 guys + Queen / Murray + Reagor / J. Jefferson + Gross-Matos / Lewis / Weaver (or something like that), there's a good chance EDC has many of those guys ranked fairly close to each other on the big board at positions of need and looks to trade back 7-10 spots to grab one and acquire additional capital.

I seriously think of Blacklock played in a different defense where he was allowed to attack all game, he would be a top 15 pick.

He has all the goods, but given how many plays the Frogs design, he isn't able to show it on film.

    If that makes sense?

Definitely. That's intriguing. He would pair well with BWill -- I like the pass rush upside there.

Agreed. And I love the flexibility.

Bowser (SAM) - Ferguson (5T strong side) - Blacklock (3T weak side) - Judon (RUSH)

Add in a CCampbell FA signing and you can use Judon over the middle like we did last year in the racecar package:

    Bowser - Campbell - Blacklock - Ferguson
    Judon

A iDL that we might be able to get in the mid rounds that I like is Jordan Elliot from
Missouri. Here’s alittle write up about him that includes tape.

I really like Gallimore, he's not the type of DT we typically go after though...it will be interesting if Decosta goes after some quicker/smaller disruption guys in addition to the big, bulky immovable guys. If we ran a 4-3, I think I'd be more inclined to think we'd be interested.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Next Tuesday I'll have articles on Fotu, Elliott and Madubuike.
