Don't forget Smith was just a depth move behind someone who wasn't starting any way. I doubt Smith would be the first man up after Zeus and Stanley. OL was already a need (i.e guard). Just need to add a tackle which could be done via free agency or the draft.

He probably should have used MORE - maybe he would have played better

Sources: The #Ravens are releasing S Tony Jefferson, a starter for the last three seasons. He had a cap hit of almost $12M, and this saves the majority of it.

Never been a fan of James Hurst. Never saw why he was rewarded for a 2nd contract.

He should have been trade bait this year now he is damaged goods contract wise. They should release him and save the roster spot for someone else

Bet Hurst was on it because of his back injury. Guy is toast just cut him....

IIANM, this is a good draft for OT - perhaps we should target one in the 4th round.

Losing Hurst is another argument for taking a hard look at Cesar Ruiz in round #1 to bolster our iOL. Bozeman, Powers and Mekari will have more of a load to share, even if Yanda does not retire.

I've always felt for him. Getting moved around as much as he did is tough when you're trying ot develop.

I gave him a hell of a lot of credit. He shut a lot of people up in the NYJ and PIT game when everyone just called him shit and talked about the QB getting killed while hew as playing LT.

Apparently he did it while on PEDs lol.

He'll likely be cut, but at the time he was signed I think it made sense. He had played well at LG and his versatility had value. Combined with OL depth being weak at the time it wasn't that surprising.

He had 2 outta 3 of Harbaughs favorite abilities. Versatility and Availability.

Reliability was a little short though.

Drafting a good prospect at OT who can also backup at guard would be a huge win.

    Scenario 1:
Andre Smith - on the roster for games 1-4.
Hurst - back on the roster for games 5-16.

    Scenario 2:
    Draft an OT
Andre Smith = camp body, Hurst released.

If a good OT falls into our laps on draft day...look for the 2nd option. If we don't nab a good tackle...look for the 1st. No need to over react & cut Hurst now. At least he'll be fresh after the first quarter of the season if he stays on the roster!

    Gotta find a better manager/chemist.

The manager needs to remind/make the player aware when a drug test is coming up.....the chemist/"trainer" better make sure the cycles are timed in conjunction with the drug tests.
