    Re: 2020 Off-Season Thread: News & Rumors

Judon is adequate in pass coverage, pretty awful on run defense and “fine” as a pass rusher, He doesn’t really win 1 on 1, and doesn’t do anything spectacularly.

He is Not a BAD player, or a JAG, he’s an above average starter league wide. He’s certainly not too 5 but I’d tag him and play him a year without too much thought, But I shudder to think of $100m going his way...

For a comparison, Clowney is no worse if not a bit better as a pass rusher, likely in the ballpark in pass coverage, but I havent seen enough to know for sure, but he is LIGHTYEARS better player in the run game. I dont want to give him $100m either but I’d rather have him locked up long term.

Clowney's also a couple years younger.

Welp: trading upside for lack of uncertainty. Our need is great.

When Clwoney is healthy, he can be a disruptive force on the DL.

Health/durability is a major concern with him. Also, is he going to dial it back after getting paid?

If they're going to pay up for a pass-rusher, I think someone like Dante Fowler could be interesting. He won't be cheap, but he had 11.5 sacks last year and he's only 25.

The guy I would REALLY want and be ok with paying a substantial contract to is Yannick Ngakoue. If the Jags let him test free agency, the Ravens should be all over that guy. He's 24 years old and has averaged over 9 sacks per year for all four of his seasons he's been in the league.

I agree...although I’m pretty sure Jax will be franchising Yannick.

Pickings may be a good deal slimmer than we hoped a couple weeks ago, and it’s probably why franchising Judon is the prudent move.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

Jags not exercising options on DT Marcel Darius or LB Jake Ryan.

Rumour floating around that we're shopping Hayden Hurst. Interest shown by JAX and NE

Patriots, Jaguars exploring pre-draft trade for
    @Ravens
TE Hayden Hurst, but whether it happens will depend on what draft capital teams r willing to part with. Hurst, who Jags we’re going to draft in 2018 ,told me 2 months ago he wants opportunity to catch more passes. Stay tuned\\

He's a JAX-based reporter with 9k followers so he knows some stuff.

I dont know how I feel about this move. I think it could make some sense and I definitely thought about it during the year. I would just be disappointed to see them trade a guy that has arguably the best hands on the team.

From his perspective, I get it though. He was a first round pick and is basically in a rotation with Nick Boyle as the #2 TE in certain sets.
