Re: Flacco and other senior QBs in Hall of Fame?
I agree with all this except Eli. In theory he would get in on a slow year but there doesn't seem to be slow years. I see Eli one day being a veterans committee kind of pick. Until then there will be all sorts of stories on how he's being passed up but he will still be passed up. Eli will the Tom Flores version of quarterbacks.

I agree with pretty much everything Jim said.

Re: Flacco and other senior QBs in Hall of Fame?
The difference is those were great Raider teams that Plunkett was the QB for.
Those Giant teams came out of nowhere to beat the best team in NFL history in the Super Bowl...twice. They weren't great teams. They just put it all together in 2008 and 2012. Eli deserves way more credit for those Giant Super Bowls vs. Plunkett, imo.

Re: Flacco and other senior QBs in Hall of Fame?
i pretty much agree with everyone, except...
Rivers is about two games shy of the 400TD club (397 currently) and about three games shy of the 60K yards club (59271).
QBs with 400TDs: Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning, Favre, Marino
QBs with 60K yards: Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning, Favre, Marino
Rivers is also an eight time pro-bowler.
QBs with 8+ pro-bowl selections: Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning, Favre, Marino, Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Elway, Warren Moon, Norm Van Brocklin, Rodgers, Montana, Bob Griese.
Every single one of those QBs is already in the hall except for presumptive first-ballot guys still playing (Brees, Brady, Peyton Manning, Rodgers)
I think it's more likely than not that Rivers gets into the HOF, even if he doesn't ever win a Super Bowl.

Re: Flacco and other senior QBs in Hall of Fame?
Eli Manning is #7 in passing yards all time just in front of Roethlisberger. Interesting though, Phillip Rivers is #6. But Eli has two Super Bowls. He's in.
Rivers has the stats. But I think he's also a product of the passing era (similar to Eli but without the Super Bowls). None of those stats converted to signature wins that I can recall or Super Bowl appearances. Out of 16 seasons only 8 of them were winning seasons. Consider this, If Joe Flacco plays next season he'll pass Johnny Unitas in passing yards.

Re: Flacco and other senior QBs in Hall of Fame?
??? No love for Fitzmagic???
seriously, it struck me how many 35+ year old QBs are starting (or recent starters).
don't know if we've had that many older qbs in the league at one time.
of course I don't think he should be in the hall but he's part of the generation.
he should get some kind of award for beating the Pats week 17 and taking their first round bye"Nothing stops these Baltimore Ravens. Beat them, injure them, shove them to the bottom of the standings, drag them into a hostile environment and mount a big lead, and they just keep trudging forward like nothing fazes them."
