Luke Kuechly Retires
Kuechly is retiring at 28 years old. He is one of if not the best MLB in the NFL. He was also healthy. This is a big shock

Not that shocking anymore honestly when notable players in their prime just decide to retire one day.

Re: Luke Kuechly Retires
Wow. Kind of reminds me of when Patrick Willis retired.
At some point, you kind of don’t want to take that beating anymore.

Re: Luke Kuechly Retires
Can’t remember which game it was but I recall seeing in tears after he realized he has yet another concussion.

Re: Luke Kuechly Retires
That was in 2016. Kuechly had a concussion at the end of the 2015 season that made him miss the last 3 games. It was a year later and another one that looked real bad. To see a tough guy who was one of the premier players in the NFL crying as he's carted away hit everyone hard. That moment pushed the NFL into doing more about head trauma. They couldn't just keep ignoring it after that hit every news cast.

Re: Luke Kuechly Retires
If I remember correctly, Patrick Willis was already on a steep decline when he retired, so this to me is a little more shocking because Luke Kuechly is still the gold standard for elite linebackers. When you think about it, if you are one of the few talented enough players to snag a ridiculous contract, it really doesn't make that much sense to play through a third contract, if the indeed you are worried about your long-term health. At some point, the extra millions of dollars isn't worth the risk when you are already loaded

Re: Luke Kuechly Retires
Very surprising when you think about it, but probably the right move for him.
He may open the door for others especially those who have had similar injuries
