Gibson didn't return punts, but yeah I hear you. I'd like to have someone more useful than a return specialist.

It eats up a roster spot.

I know some people really want to upgrade our return game but I don’t care at all. Returns are also gradually being more and more phased out of the game. Kickoff returns are barely a thing anymore. And with the way our offense moves the ball, all I really need out of a punt returner is a guy who isn’t gonna put the ball on the ground.

I get the sentiment behind feeling that way, and I agree that ball security is job 1 for return men...if we had a truly dangerous return man, it would make this team all the more unstoppable.

Beat them in every phase, I say.

I'm one of those people that cares about a return game. I'm sick of Thomas or Jones or whoever putting the ball on the ground, making bad decisions, and getting tackled inside the 20. Just to have a guy who could reliably make good decisions, and occasionally get a big return, IMO would be really helpful. Ideally the guy has a role on offense or defense, but I still think I'd like a guy who can return.

I know it's nitpicky because we've won 10 games straight, but it's scary to let a team like New England back into the football game like we did because of a special teams muff. I don't know, maybe it's archaic.

Your unlikely to get an elite prospect in the 1st round for a pass rusher at our draft spot... Ur more likely to find a HB or WR. that falls

Sure, I agreed with that in the post above. That doesn’t mean you use resources on someone for this purpose though. Just throw Snead back there and have him fair catch every time.

Yes, Nj, Yes. Kickoff returns are rare as hens teeth. Most punters can boom the ball too. Return-men are becoming obsolete. IMO it's not worth putting draft resources into one when you can probably find one already on your roster or sign an UDFA... Bc

If you want a good one you make sure you get em by drafting him. 6th or 7th round where it's low risk. Braxton Berrios averaged 12 punt return yards with the Jets this year and was drafted in the 6th round. I'll still take 12 yards on a punt return which could be the difference in kicking a field goal or punting.

Or a wedge instead of a 9 iron into the green...

    Oops - wrong sport

I really want 2 front 7 guys within our first 2 picks, but this WR is so deep I can't really argue if we were to pick a WR in the first 3 rounds. This draft really reminds me of the 2014 WR class...hopefully we are able to grab one before day 3.

I'm a big fan of a lot of these guys, teams that hold off until the 2nd and 3rd rounds are going to get really good ones.
Although Walsh's system of offense can compensate for lack of talent; however, defense is a different story. According to Walsh, talent on defense was essential and could not be compensated for. What did Walsh do in 1981? He acquired physical and talented players on defense.

I'm not disputing your logic, but by the same token perhaps the Ravens could draft a player like Bozeman (6th round - pick #215) who has become our starting LG. I'd certainly rather have him than a kick return-man... Bc
