Yeah, I agree with that. That is a complaint I have had with AEW. I'm a weekly watcher and I've definitely noticed many, many occasions where the guys are just standing there waiting for the big moves to come, and it definitely takes you out of the match. The moves are generally spectacular to watch - that Fenix dive is incredible - but it's not believable. Truth be told while I very much enjoy AEW and watch the full two hours + Dark every week, they could stand to benefit from letting some of the matches breathe a bit more and not try to pack so many high spots and so much action into every bout.

Having said all that, I can't wait for the Double or Nothing Casino ladder match and the Stadium Stampede match this weekend lol.

Some thoughts on the other DON matches I'm interested to see:

MOX vs. Brodie Lee - I hate to say it but Brodie Lee is not doing anything for me. I was excited to see him outside of WWE after hearing good things, but ehhhh. This quasi-Vince McMahon cult gimmick is just weird and he's incredibly wooden on the mic. You can take the shots at Vince but I don't know building an entire gimmick around it is really a good idea, seems very amateurish. Not sure why he was elevated to the ME picture but I guess it's good that it's happening while there are no fans, because I'm not sure he's getting over with anyone. Actually, I think PAC was next in line for the title shot but since he's been stuck in the UK due to COVID they had to change it up.

Cody vs. Archer - the build has been great - something that I love about AEW is they DON'T let guys get after each other a ton before their PPV matches. Old school builds that make you want to pay to see them fight. Archer is cool but it feels like Cody needs the W here especially after his losses to Y2J and MJF, and after what Jake did to Brandi. Was surreal to see Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson sitting across from each other on a major wrestling program in 2020 lol.

Nyla vs. Shida - Shida is great and should win, but not sure if she will or not. I am not a Nyla fan nor am I generally a fan of, to put this politely, "monster heels" in the women's division holding the title. There are usually only a couple per company and it's just not believable that any of the other women could actually stand up against them. Nyla probably outweighs Shida by close to 100 lbs. Put the belt on Shida where she can have quality matches with Statlander, Riho, Penelope, etc.

It's odd because I'm in that same boat. Lol. No matter how much I can't stand all the flippy shit matches, I do enjoy AEW overall and will be watching the PPV tomorrow night. I was always a WWF/WWE fan and enjoyed them much more than WCW. I watched both shows because I found things in both that I enjoyed. I'm really trying to do that now but WWE's product has been going downhill for awhile now and I don't see much there that is keeping me watching other than I love watching wrestling. Right now, NWA Power is my favorite show to watch and I really hope they continue to work with ROH. AEW, while it continues to entertain me, has way more issues and flaws in what I enjoy overall for it to be my favorite show. I'm really not a fan of most of their roster nor their style, but because WWE sucks so much ass at the moment, AEW keeps me coming back each week.

Hopefully WWE will see that Charlotte is not the draw that they think she is and will stop shoving her down our throats as the one to beat on the women's roster. They put the NXT title on her instead of Ripley solely because they thought she would boost the ratings and hurt AEW's and that hasn't even come close to happening yet. In fact, NXT's ratings have gone down since then....

I know the virus pandemic has forced the industry as a whole to change how things work, but if AEW could figure out how to have some people at ringside, even if it is part of the roster, then the biggest damn company in the business could have done so as well!! Those taped matches with no one at ringside got old and boring fast. At least have the rest of the working roster out at ring side for added attention watching the matches. At least then when they STILL played up to the non existent crowd it would have made sense instead of making it look like they are going through the motions of working a live crowd.

I'm still bitter at how they botched LIV's return. Sure, they are slowly starting to build her up now, but her return was definitely a setback. And they have all but killed Ruby at this point. Smh.

    Re: Wrasslin'

AEW ppv was the drizzles. I enjoyed the Statlander match and MJF vs Jungle Boy. That's it. Cody's match was okay, but that title belt looks like something a kid makes out of cookie sheets and paint.

Still don't see what anyone sees in Ambrose/Moxley. Dude is boring as can be and should not be the company's top champ. He is a glorified midcarder at best

That stadium match was garbage all around. Matt Hardy changing gimmicks was kinda funny, but the drowning parts was in and taste considering they had a tribute to Gaspard on the same PPV. That match was pretaped so it could have been edited in time.

Whichever of the Young SUCKS that had the wrapped ribs doesn't know how to sell anything at all. (Neither of them do actually) but the dude has injured ribs, that's clearly wrapped, and he kinda did a " ow, my sides hurt" grimace maybe twice the entire match, then after all that fighting, still had the strength to suplex another dude 100 yards (so they want us to believe) No way in Hell he could do that with injured ribs. Maybe take the damn bandages off and hope everyone forgets they are supposed to be injured if you want anyone to believe the stuff that you are doing next time. Oh wait, they always do stupid shit that doesn't make sense in their matches....

WWE needs to hurry up and get entertaining again because if I have to keep watching a promotion with the Young Sucks and Omega on it, I'm more than likely going to stop watching all together.

At least theres still NWA Power and ROH when I can find it on.

    Re: Wrasslin'

I paid for the PPV. It's the first PPV I've bought in probably a decade if not more. I don't think any PPV is ever "worth" $50, but I was entertained and I have no problem supporting them when they've been continuing to put out quality content weekly amidst the virus.

I enjoyed the Stadium Stampede match, I thought it was hilarious pretty much throughout. It wasn't a wrestling match and shouldn't be considered such, but I was sports entertained. Matt no selling the rib injury doesn't bother me because nobody was selling anything in that match and the Bucks don't sell anything anyway lol. But I do agree with why tape it if you aren't going to sell it.

Casino match needed a crowd to pop for the Orange Cassidy spots, but overall was entertained. Darby is insane and borderline reckless with his spots, that dude is entertaining as hell but he's going to have a short career. I am not familiar with Brian Cage but going on looks and how he was presented, looks to be AEW's Brock Lesnar. Complete with "mouthpiece in a suit" in Taz. I would have liked to see a non debuting guy win that match.

Like Best Friends getting the #1 contender spot for the tag titles. Private Party also impress me every time I watch them, super raw, but lot of talent.

Love Shida winning the women's belt. Riho wasn't very believable and Nyla isn't good, so they finally got it right here. Shida is also a great social media follow both for her selfies and her other content.

The TNT title isn't finished. Cody said the plating to make it look nice couldn't be done due to COVID so it's still to come and the belt will look better. Possibly even by tomorrow on Dynamite. I know Cody had to win but not sure where this puts Lance. I'm not counting on it but hopefully Jake Roberts sticks around as he's been highly entertaining with his mic work.

Brodie Lee does nothing for me. The guy just has no charisma or personality at all. Having him be this Vince McMahon knockoff after you portrayed this group in the way they were before his debut was a bad decision IMO. Not to mention you have a guy who again has little to no charisma trying to pull off a knockoff version of one of the most charismatic people in wrestling history. I think the Dark Order angle has been really hurt by Grayson and Uno being stuck in Canada, as well. Mox is who he is, I'm a fan but in a "regular" match you just aren't going to get 5* stuff out of him unless he's with a great worker.

I am a big Statlander fan so was nice to see her get the PPV win. Penelope Ford is green but I'm always impressed with her ring presence, and her hurricanrana is sick. She has the look to be THE top star in their women's division, just needs her in ring ability to improve a bit.

MJF/Jungle Boy was probably match of the night, both are always fantastic. I like Jurassic Express but both Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus would be better off individually imo. Jungle Boy needs a gimmick change.

Overall I enjoyed the show, I came away sports entertained, and I'm excited to see the new directions they take many of these characters as several feuds were concluded here. The Elite and Inner Circle have been feuding since October so it should be totally fresh stuff coming at us. I do hope they keep the factions intact for the time being, faction warfare was something I enjoyed growing up that has kind of fallen to the side in WWE over the years.

I'm sure it's obvious but I am a big mark for AEW. So their content has to admittedly be REALLY REALLY bad for me to think it's bad. They've only done two things so far that fall into that for me:

    1) The Nightmare Collective - I've watched wrestling for a long time and it's very rare to see an angle consistently bring the show to a screeching halt, but the Nightmare Collective did that every time they were out. Thankfully, the company saw it wasn't working and killed it very quickly.

    2) The Jake/Archer/Brandi segment a couple weeks ago where Jake put a snake on her and then gyrated sexually on top of her. Did this elevate my interest in the Cody/Archer match - yes. Did I think it was going a little too far in 2020? Also yes. AEW has callbacks to a lot of different eras with their product and this seemed to be right out of the worst of the Attitude era.

Matt Hardy’s gimmick changing gimmick is amazing.

Britt Baker is so good on the mic. She got so good so fast.

Y'all know I love me some freshly squeezed Orange Cassidy...check this out:

    https://www.thesportster.com/news/ba...Fg-ALQVSGK3v8g

Cassidy's quarter-hour numbers have seen regular viewership increases over the past few months for AEW and last week, when he was part of the TNT Championship number one contender's battle royal, ratings blew through the roof for the brand compared to what they're used to.

Figure Four Online's Daily Update column points out that over 1 million people tuned in from the point Cassidy joined the match, becoming easily the highest-rated segment of the show. The company is now realizing they have a future champion in the company and must be cautiously contemplating how they'll book him moving forward.
Some people will hate this but you can't fake the ratings, he's a draw. I don't see all the quarterly numbers but I have to think pulling over 1M+ for any segment is a huge deal for AEW.

FWIW I think less is more with OC, so I'm not sure how a title run would go. I think they've used him a little too much recently, the slow burn from October to February when he finally "cared" against PAC was great.

Man, there's been a lot of sexual accusations in the World of Wrestling popping up on Twitter. Mainly UK stars but there's been around 50 or so different names in the biz that got outed via ExposeWrestling on Twitter. That account dropped a final name list then closed the account.

A quick search of ExposeWrestling on twitter will give you enough to read for a good hour or more.

Wwe has released Jack Gallagher amongst the accusations against him, so one would think there's truth to them.

Jimmy Havock is checking into rehab and AEW is deciding what to do with him.

David Lagana resigned his role with NWA and they are taking a break from production in order to restructure management.

Going to be an interesting few weeks ahead for the World of Wrestling.

Did WWE hire Vince Russo again or something?

    https://www.wwe.com/shows/extremerul...eye-for-an-eye

Same company that says AEW is "blood and guts wrestling" and doesn't allow color in matches promotes match in which you win by removing the other person's eye. I will say, the company finally took the "Extreme" part of Extreme Rules to heart.

Also, watching the ratings recently, guess WWE can't claim Charlotte = ratings anymore. She didn't move the needle at all for NXT...but they put Sasha on there and it immediately beat AEW two weeks in a row (in total viewership, still losing in the key demo) for the first time.

Interested to see if they can make it 3 in a row with the big Keith Lee/Adam Cole match having been spoiled - which I think was actually intentional by WWE, because no talent is dumb enough to spoil a pre-taped main event like they want you to think. Remember in what, 1999, when Schiavone spoiled the Mankind title win and everyone went to watch it? I don't put it past Vince to try and do that again.

I think someone leaked the outcomes of the 2nd part of Fyter Fest for AEW as well.

I have been giving both companies the benefit of the doubt since the pandemic has caused things to drastically change. Both have had more bad than good in my opinion lately, but they are at least still trying and I still watch both. I'm patiently waiting to see how things turn for each once fans are allowed back though.
