His example of why he believes this foolishness is that Cam Newton is basically broken due to all the contact. Besides the huge difference in Cam and Lamar's running styles, if Cam is his example then there's an easy counter.....Andrew Luck.

Luck came in the league a year AFTER Cam and had already retired because of the beating he took that led to multiple injuries. Hell, Lamar's only injury this year, although minor, happened from a hit in the pocket. And even if Lamar stops running, he's still a better pocket passer than Darnold

Darnold looked decent yesterday, but he has had no where near the same effect on his team as Lamar has

If Cam Newton broke down at 30, that means we only have 8 years of 1,000 yd rushing, 3,000 yd passing, 30+ td production from Lamar.

Gotlieb is ignorant. It’s one thing to project but you’re actually seeing production on the field. Sam may end up being a 10 year starter with some of those teams being good. Lamar though in those same 10 years will in all likelihood be playing for multiple titles. Put it this way would Doug pick Sam to take on Lamar, Pat and Deshaun in the playoffs year after year and if he did what would his odds be of beating those teams led by those elite level QB’s? Comparatively speaking What made Joe great for us is that he grew into taking on Brady and Manning. Matt Ryan while he had one real run was in hindsight as successful based on the his theory. I do not see Sam doing that versus his three contemporaries. Heck he probably won’t be better than Josh Allen who’s in his own division.

Mike Golic Jr. said it best. If Lamar wins a ring or two and only lasts 8 years then I'd much rather take 8 years of Lamar than 15 years of Matt Ryan.
