The rate of success for field goal attempts has increased quite dramatically over the years, which is clear from the chart at the link below:

Specifically in the 5 years since they moved the XPs back: The numbers for this year are down a bit, @ 80%. From 2015-2018 the average was pretty consistently around 84%. The 5 years before the change, it ranged between 81% and 86%. Overall, the change in the XP rule doesn't seem to have made any real difference in field goal %.
