Was this guy arrested IN the hospital?
I understand that threatening the life of the prez is a crime; so is threatening to blow up a hospital. But, is this guy a whackjob who needs to be in prison, or an actual insane person who needs treatment?
(Possibly a dumb question, I guess there's no reason he can't be both.)

It's a crime to make threats against the President. Your physical location is immaterial.
