Same here, plastic water bottle, yes but never a straw. Years ago I was fishing in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay and came across a straw hat floating out there, very similar to the one Brian Billick used to wear at training camp in Western MD (McDaniel) College, minus the Raven bird on the front.

I mow my lawn in that hat

California is a medievalist's dream. I get to watch what happens when highly unsanitary conditions meet virulent plagues from the comfort of my chair.

We got stainless steel straws for our kids. They're pretty sweet.

For home use only or do you take them with you to fast food/sit down restaurants? Just curious. That's a better option than paper straws IMO.

I've also seen bamboo straws advertised, as well as collapsible.

Do they clean up pretty easily? Are they in some sort of carrying case so they don't get all nasty in a pocket or purse?

If they are easy to clean, would seem a good transition for a sit down restaurant. Higher initial $ outlay, but reusable so you're not constantly buying the plastic or paper ones.

The stainless ones you can just toss in the dishwasher with your silverware.

The only shitty thing about them is they don’t bend, so little kids need to learn to NOT tip their cup...

Only at home, but tbh, we don't go out to a ton of restaurants due to wrangling three children between 3 and 9.
