    Mvp- lamar jackson

If Lamar keeps up the stats he is producing now. MVP is his to LOSE.

Not bad for a RUNNING BACK!!! Now that is funny.

Cunningham was named MVP by the Pro Football Writers Association in 1990, but not by the Newspaper Enterprise Association (defunct since 2008) who interestingly chose Warren Moon, or by the Sporting News & Associated Press (considered the most prestigious) who both went with Joe Montana.

There have been other "running" QBs who have been named MVP: John Elway in 1987, Steve Young in 1992 and 1994, Steve McNair in 2003 (co-MVP with Peyton) and Cam Newton in 2015. However, all but Elway** put up passing numbers those years that were typical for MVP QBs.

And Lamar is atypical for his position.
Whether or not that helps or hurts his case is anyone's guess.
He probably needs to pass more and have more success while doing so to be a legitamite candidate.

    ** Elway in '87 put up Flacco-like numbers: 54.6 comp% -- 3198 yds -- 19 TDs -- 12 INTs -- 83.4 QB rating.
Still won MVP somehow, maybe because of the three 4th Qtr comebacks...?

From small piece in Peter Kings article.

Lamar is on pace to outrush Alvin Kamara and have a higher passer rating than Carson Wentz.

Lot of season left but if he keeps up this pace and leads us to 11+ wins... How can you ignore it?

My guess the Top 5 in no particular order
    Lamar
    Wilson
    Rodgers
    Run CMC
    Everyone else

    He's already outrushed the Steelers.

Passing stats matter for MVP discussion, and although yesterday's stats don't tell the true story, it's not going to be looked at favorably. Sucks, but that's the reality of MVP voting. Now, if he ends the season with 4000+ yards and 30+ passing touchdowns to go with his likely 1000+ yard rushing season, it's possible, especially if we win the division and are comfortably seeded in the playoffs. But if we're going by how the MVP award is actually given, he needs to throw for more yards/touchdowns. Right now, a lot of his totals are wrapped up in the Miami game.

    Most valuable Raven...without a doubt.

    Question Re: Mvp- lamar jackson

While I'm luvin' LJ, don't you think it's a wee bit too early to anoint him MVP in October?

I think Lamar is certainly in discussions as a league MVP choice.

Russell Wilson is up there as is Aaron Rodgers.

However, the Panthers would be NOTHING without Christian McCaffery.

Those are all good choices. Glad I'm not the one making them.

Maybe too early yes. I keep waiting for the inevitable playoffs thread but don't want to be the guy to create one and jinx us.

Nice to have the luxury to dream in mid October.

Yes, not many would've thunk it after we lost to the Browns in Baltimore. Perhaps that was a wake-up call? ... Bc
