Mahomes Injury - Should Lamar Stop Running?
In Game 1 of the season, Mahomes hurt his ankle in the pocket. Last night, his kneecap fell off on a QB sneak. I know we all remember what Ngata did to RGIII and how that forever altered his career trajectory, but is the fear of Lamar getting hurt actually a legit reason to alter his game?
I say no. The injury risk is just as great standing in the pocket or doing something routine as it is running. He might take what looks like a BIGGER hit while running, but that doesn't mean it's any more dangerous.
P.S. - Someone said in an earlier thread that the AFC is kinda wide open right now. I agree. As they say, that's why they play the games. 3 weeks ago KC looked unbeatable. Now, there is a giant question mark hanging over their season...especially if Mahomes is out for more than the uber-optimistic 3 weeks. I mean his kneecap was off

Re: Mahomes Injury - Should Lamar Stop Running?
NO, LJ shouldn't stop running. Are you nuts? His legs may be the best part of his game, although I do believe his arm and QB smarts will develop with time and experience. Should he be in "I'm not going to take a risk mode" while the Ravens lose games? SMH at the question... Bc

No but he still needs to not take as many hits when he does run. It also looked like Mahomes didn’t get low enough on the sneak.

We would not win if lamar relied on his arm only. He's just not there yet

Re: Mahomes Injury - Should Lamar Stop Running?
you do realize he had a leg injury prior to the game, right? Very similar to RG3 injury where people question whether he should have been playing to begin with. RG3 was never the same...

Re: Mahomes Injury - Should Lamar Stop Running?
Right now he needs to be as dangerous as he can be and 1/2 of that is running. He glides it’s like you’re watching a video game he stands out so much and looks better than everyone else. For just his arm we might have to wait a while for that. If he would back off of taking contact that would be awesome, but even if he doesn’t it’s not like it’s that much safer. Injuries happen without any contact, but if he’s young and can run no way I’m not utilizing that while I can.

Re: Mahomes Injury - Should Lamar Stop Running?
I don't think so.
Foles was hit when passing
Brees hit his hand while passing
Roethlisberger snapped his ligament while passing
Darnold got sick
Luck hurt his ankle as some point but no one knows when
Rudolph got hit while dropping back
Siemien got hit after passing
That's everyone I can remember and none where scrambling
