In an odd twist, Clark was playing plenty of ILB today (with Elliott coming in as the safety).

I Low-key feel bad for Tony because he gives 110% but he’s just bad. Today’s game was really telling.

    As per usual.

We are lucky as a fan base to have several locals doing in-depth work after each game.

my guess is once the ILBs are up to speed that one of them could likely take over for that. Its a good job by Clark, but it is considerably harder for them to wear the dot than somebody more central to the LOS. maybe none of them fit that requirement of football IQ and he keeps it, but id have to think the newest additions being along the front 7 made that a pretty easy call this week, and maybe next couple.

It make sense for S to wear the dot they see more of the field then any other defender

theyre not calling it in that way though. Wink is calling the play in, theyre just relaying it to everybody else. usually prior to the other team even breaking the huddle and them making pre snap adjustments (which a lot of that communication is coming from the DBs).

its not unheard of that a safety does it, weddle did it here and in SD in spurts, its just not the norm for NFL teams. I dont know, but just from memory id say more likely than not a LB has the dot.

Level of competition has been pretty low. This week is going to be a good test. That being said, players who know their roles and play their responsibility makes a huge difference. That's the key to NE's defenses and our defenses of old.

If he stays up and healthy, Ward may be able to get the interior push needed on passing downs.
