Can't change how you play because of one mistake. He's made probably 25-30 extra yards this year from hurdles combined. If fumbling becomes an issue then maybe you think about changing it, but otherwise play how you play.

Hurding is fine when the defender goes low and ducks his head. However, that wasn't the case on Andrews' hurdle attempt. That defender was zoned into Andrews' midsection, so when Andrews went into his ill-advised hurdle, it was an easy play for the defender to rise up and make the hit. Andrews actually put himself into a more vulnerable position and was lucky to not be injured on the play. Yes, there is a time for using the hurdle and that play wasn't it.

Hurdling will eventually be banned for "player safety." Someone is going to come down on their head//neck and get carted off. That will cause the league to act.

In this instance, it was bad situational football. You are in a two minute offense. With any completion over the middle, you cannot afford wasted seconds. Hurdling there is a waste of time with three defenders in the vicinity. Especially, when the DB wasn’t even going low.

if they're down a score or two midway through the 4th, with the offense struggling to get yards, i still think it's stupid but i'd at least understand why they're trying it.

but they were up 10, on their way to another 3 or more before half, and instead it took a red zone stand to go into the half still up 7. second week in a row they shot themselves in the foot not understanding the situation with the ball right before halftime.

That DB was far from going low.

Anyone been watching the stiff arms of Christian McCaffrey? That's the way to do it. He's had a hurdle in his time too but the stiff arm is bread and butter and its just devastating.

I think it was Hurst hat hurdled someone in the Pittsburgh game and 3 defenders hit him and flipped him upside down and he was coming down on his head when another defender came in and delivered an unnecessary shot to his neck and head area just before he hit the ground. i actually thought it was a dirty hit, but its the type of play that our TEs open themselves up for when hurdling.
