If Hurst got hurt we'd need to find someone else. That 3rd TE wouldn't be as good as Hurst and would cost more money going forward. So he isn't a bust like Perriman and he doesn't look like a special pick like Orlando or Andrews. It seems like he'll help us for the duration of his rookie contract. Some players picked higher will be out the league by then. You know, the busts.

Since the NFL brain-trust officially dropped "probable" from the injury list, just about every player not deemed "out" is declared questionable. I think it makes it more

Hurst isn't a bad player, but he is a bad investment.

We can get his production from te's drafted far after his draft position. He doesn't bring.much more than Boyle does.

I'd trade him on his rookie deal if I could to maximize returns

I would word this differently. He “was” a bad investment. The dunk costs are what they are, his cap numbers and costs moving forward are fine, as long as you consider the draft pick and signing bonus as a sunk cost.

Boyle, honestly brings a LOT more for THIS offense..

I’m not opposed to trading him, but no reason to force it. If we could get 3rd round value I’m listening. I can see why another team would place that value on him as well.

Hurst blocks like a mofo. He’s not the pass catcher I thought he’d be, but Andrews is, so as long as someone is the receiver threat it’s not as bad that Hurst hasn’t lived up to first round status. His blocking is springing some nice chunk yard plays. Financially, he’s worth what he’s getting paid on his rookie deal, and he might even be a late bloomer and start getting more involved in the offense. Important Andrews insurance as well.
