Re: The Coordinators - Breakdown of the Ravens Scheme
Good stuff once again.
There is a lot of potential from their use of 12, 21 and 22 personnel.
They are effective running from those packages and usually face 8 man boxes.
They could easily go from a power look to spread/empty look and really do some damage w/ no huddle or middle huddle.
They are on of the few teams that actually throw to the RB when they are split out wide in an empty set and they have 2 RBs that are viable options out there.
I have some ideas for an article but have no clue how it works to post/blog it though.

Re: The Coordinators - Breakdown of the Ravens Scheme
Here’s what I chart/would chart when I have more time. I conferred with Mark Bullock from the athletic/Twitter to make the charting categories. The verbiage for the formations becomes tricky, makes sense to stick with WCO or use something universal like madden (seriously) they do a good job using universal verbiage to describe their formations and plays.
Anyhow posted these earlier, reposting since OC mentioned charting:
Formation/Personnel/Play type (sprint/boot/roll/play-action/RPO)/Down/Distance/Route breakdown/Target
Quarter, Time, QB position ie (Under Center, Shotgun, Pistol)

Run article from KC.
Some key takeaways:
- The 3rd Q got the offense comfortable.
- There wasn't really a reason to go away from the run game. I think we panicked.
- Outside zone baby
- Very little Ricard this week."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”

Re: The Coordinators - Breakdown of the Ravens Scheme
Agree we panicked thinking we had to get in a track meet with KC. The same mentality that creeps up when ur down 14-17 in the first quarter but just abandon the run despite having 3 qrtrs.
That defense will get body blower by New England later this year imo. The hoody won't be phased

Re: The Coordinators - Breakdown of the Ravens Scheme
I agree.
I'm not trying to be accusatory of Harbaugh becuase I don't know, but I seriously think KC got in their head.
Coming out into the 2nd Q they panicked and started throwing.
I think the 3rd Q stats show that they just needed to stay true to their identity.
But a larger point - any team going on the road against a team like KC should be focusing on getting themselves comfortable early. You could argue the Ravens did that, but then panicked. It's a good lesson to learn from.
Also Ed - I think we have most of the categories covered in our pass charting that you recommended. So I appreciate your feedback! It's been really helkpful to getting to a complete package."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”

Re: The Coordinators - Breakdown of the Ravens Scheme
Maybe we learn an important lesson for our next game with KC. Keep running. Do not get into a passing match. Get into a pound the rock game and wear them down.

Passing game takeaways:
- Heavy use off 11 personnel
- Game script was very interesting
- Great in the 0-10 yards. Bad deep. Very little use of behind LOS plays (i.e. screens)."Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre, and ain’t no man in here okay with just basic.”
