yep and DeMeco transitioned that defense to a bunch of dawgs. They have some injuries at edge now but they're still formidable

The Browns chances by all reasonable expectations will be declining every year going forward as they lose good players to the cap, and have no high draft picks to get cheap elite talent.
Yep. Watson’s contract put the Browns all-in this year and they didn’t get it done. A high risk high reward play. The risk will bite them in the ass.

But devil's advocate... I've watched a good bit of Stroud this season. That's not coaching. That's a freaking gifted young QB. So however good DeMeco is -- and he flat out ADMITS this -- the success of his team is due to how good Stroud is.

So given that, plus a 10-7 record against a cakewalk schedule (a last place schedule against the AFCS *and* the NFCS? Are you kidding me?) I'm afraid my COTY would go elsewhere. But DeMeco will get one before he's done.

This is where I am. They were teetering 50/50 to even make the wild card round playing in the worst division ... and then the rookie qb got better each game. I'd be open to naming Slowik assistant of the year.

    He's basically a rookie coach

That's fair, although there is no doubt the credit is well earned in the case of Stroud. Having a great QB shouldn't disqualify you from being considered a great coach. Pretty much all great coaches have had them.

I'm just less impressed with the overall accomplishment of Houston this year than I am with some other coaching jobs. And that's no slight on Ryans. As I say, he'll win a COTY and quite possibly a Super Bowl before it's all said and done.

The Deshaun Watson trade is complete. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...or-the-browns/

Someone who has time could dig into the forensic accounting exercise of exactly what the trade value translated into for both sides, but my rough math says the Browns got Watson, a fraction of Jeudy, and $260MM against their cap, while the Texans got... well, basically half their team.

They don't deserve to have any happy ending.

Hot, to be fair Watson did play in 12 games over the last three years, with 14 TDs/9 INTs/3 fumbles (1 lost). So he's given the Browns their money's worth. All this for a mere three 1st round picks. A football bargain

No player not named Tom Brady or Peyton Manning was worth that ridiculous trade, and for a player with severely questionable character.

Hey Bc, of all the starting QBs the Browns trotted out last year, Watson was definitely in the top two.
